It was my honor to work for many, many years along side Joan at Stony Mountain Institution. Joan demonstrated a true nurses heart in every single interation I ever witnessed. She was wise, kind and gentle and I learned alot from her. Her love for her family was known to us all as she frequently spoke about them with with pride. Her next favorite topic was her pets, which she was devoted to. My hope is that Heaven is full of puppies and diet Dr. Pepper and then I know Joan will be content. Condolences to her familiy and friends. She will be remembered.

I had the pleasure of working with Joan as a Nursing Colleague at Stony Mountian Federal Corrections for many years. Joan was the living definition of what I have always felt described a "Nurse" . She was kind , extremely skilled and competent, very compassionate , and an advocate for everyone around her - both clients and fellow staff. She taught me a lot and was always there if I needed support or had questions. She stood up for us numerous times as our Union Rep and had the confidence and knowledge to

do this with resolve. She also had a wicked sense of humour edgedwith sarcasm and could always make me

laugh. Her entire face lit up when she spoke of her family and she adored her nieces , nephews and of course her furbabies . I remember her always apologizing when we went anywhere in her vehicle as it was completely fashioned to be comfortable for her puppies LOL - she was the BEST pet Mama! She also got very excited anytime she was going to Matlock or on a road trip and the closer it got the wiser her smile got. She also was k own to all our clients as the Nurse with the candy dish . It was a privilege to have called her friend and she will be missed by many . My sincere condolences to Joan's family and friends for this heartache and loss

I was fortunate to work with with Joan for many years at the Medical Unit at Stony Mountain Institute/Penitentiary and was paired with her, at the time of her retirement at Rockwood/Stony Mountain Minimum. I enjoyed Joan's straightforward opinions and passion to do what she felt was right. To this end, Joan was the Union Shop Stewart of The Professional Institute of Canada and advocated for the fair treatment of not only its members but also the inmates. Joan cared about the quality of her work to the point she would use her own money to buy office supplies and tools such as screw drivers to repair the inmate's broken eyeglasses. Joan was very fond of her family and would often brag about their achievements during work or on breaks.

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to her family (and dogs) as I know that Joan will be truly missed.

Joan was a very kind person which is one of the requirement to be a nurse. I worked with Joan at Stony Mtn Inst for many years, for a short period as her assistant. Joan was a coworker that everyone enjoyed working with. She always spoke of Matlock and the many trips she made with her pets. Her nieces were special in many of her conversations, as where her sisters and brother. Joan had some challenges but never stopped from enjoying life. My sincere sympathy to Joan's family and she and her pets will be remembered.
