DIANE LYNN CLARKE

(née GILBERT)

December 5, 1958 – December 5, 2023

With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Diane Lynn Clarke (née Gilbert) on December 5, 2023 at the age of 65. She was born on December 5, 1958. Diane Clarke is survived by her children, Chris Clarke (Evelyn) and Steven; grandchildren, Jackson and Jacob; sister, Wendy Napady (Brian); niece, Nicole Desjardins (Kyle); nephew, Michael Napady (Sam); and great nieces and nephew, Sophie, Elliot, Savannah, and Maddie. She was preceded by her father, Jim Gilbert; mother, Lorraine Gilbert; and sister, Cindy Gilbert.

Most of Diane’s summers growing up were spent at the family cabin in Laclu. You would often see her reading a book on the deck. She would go with her sister and other children from the bay on adventures. She was one of the oldest and was responsible for the safety of all the young kids. They would hike to Boyne Lake through the tunnel. They would sit on the large rocks above the train tracks and wait for trains. They would go boating over to the falls.

In her free time Diane enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She had a passion for cooking, gardening, and knitting. She would curl in the winter. You would always see her with a book or her tablet in her hand. She had a thirst for knowledge which enabled her to help others around her. If she didn’t know the answer to a question, she would look it up and then confidently share what she learned. She helped with the building of her parents’ home in Laclu which what she learned enabled her to start building her home in Matlock. Diane was a jack of all trades and loved building and fixing things.

Over the last few years, she really enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would often help her kids around their homes or garden. She loved to babysit her grandchildren.

Diane had a diverse career, working at various establishments. She began her career at Eaton’s and later worked as a nurse at Health Science Center. Diane also served as a bookkeeper at the Carpenters Union and worked as a courier. She later joined Rona in Gimli, and then Rona in Teulon.

We love you and she will be greatly missed by all.

As per her wishes there will be a private celebration of life.

Diane’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
