KATHLEEN CLEMENTS

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen (“Kathy”) Clements on June 13, 2026, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 73. She spent her final days surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Kathy is lovingly remembered by her children, Shawn and Andrea Clements; her cherished grandchildren, Ana, Vienna, and Amelia; and her siblings, Shelagh, Maureen, and John. She was predeceased by her brother, Jamie Stubbs; and by her parents, James (“Jim”) and Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Stubbs.

Kathy was born on January 22, 1953, at St. Paul’s Hospital in West Vancouver, British Columbia. The eldest of five children, she was born to Jim and Jackie, who had moved to West Vancouver from Alberta in 1951. Kathy attended St. Anthony’s School in Vancouver until the age of ten, when the family relocated to Winnipeg. There, she continued her education at St. Ignatius School and later graduated from St. Mary’s Academy.

In 1975, Kathy married Charlie Clements. Together they welcomed their son, Shawn, in 1976, followed by their daughter, Andrea, in 1977. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Kathy had a lifelong love of music and a free spirit that led many who knew her to affectionately describe her as a “hippie.” Folk music held a special place in her heart, but her musical tastes were wide-ranging. Over the years, she attended countless concerts and festivals, including many summers at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and memorable shows such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers with her children.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and infectious sense of fun, Kathy was often the heart of every gathering. She loved bringing people together and created a home where everyone felt welcome. Many of Shawn and Andrea’s friends became lifelong friends of Kathy’s as well, continuing to visit her long after her children had grown and moved away. Her life was a testament to kindness, inclusivity, and the belief that everyone deserved a place where they felt they belonged.

In her later years, Kathy made her home at Misericordia Terrace, where she quickly formed many meaningful friendships. She treasured the time she spent with both old and new friends, as well as with her children and grandchildren, whose visits brought her immense happiness.

In accordance with Kathy’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held in early September (invitations to come). All who knew and loved her will be welcome to attend—just as Kathy would have wanted.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
