JANET COLATRUGLIO

April 3, 1956 – June 30, 2025

After a courageous two year battle with cancer, it’s with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on June 30, 2025, at the age of 69.

Janet met her future husband to be (Charley) while they were in high school. They started dating when she was 17 and he was 19. They married on October 22, 1977. They raised two wonderful children Stefan (Richel) and Sarah (Cliff) who provided Janet with three beautiful grandchildren, Lily, Eylah and Jake.

Janet also leaves behind her sister Robbie and brother Jimmy (Kathy) along with bother-in-laws and sister-in-laws with many nieces and nephews.

Janet worked almost all of her working life with the City of Winnipeg with the majority of time in the Employee Assistance Program and retired 14 years ago.

She had many interests in life from gardening, cooking/ entertaining, sewing, quilt making, travelling, music and reading. But her favourite pastime was being with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.

Janet and Charley were together for nearly 53 years of happiness, numerous life adventures, made many friends and relished the many family gatherings.

She lived all her years as a loving, caring and giving person. She was always there for others in-need of help and an ear for listening. She was one of a kind, and we will remember and miss her dearly.

Janet’s dear friend Cindy also battled cancer at the same time and both left us during the same week, two kindred spirits together again.

As typical Janet…not seeking any attention, requested a private family gathering to celebrate her life.

Janet’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Oh Charlie, Chris and I are so incredibly saddened to hear this news. We've spent the last few days at the Folk Fest, a place we know you both very much enjoyed. One of my top memories is of Janet body surfing the crowd at Big Blue at Night. What a spirit; what a loss. Hope you're doing as well as possible under the circumstances. Big hug from us.

I worked with Charlie for many years, enjoyed times with Janet and Charlie at work and Association functions. Such a wonderful girl... we also were unaware Janet went through struggles with cancer... ;0( So saddened to hear of that.

Also must mention the video tribute with your wonderful memories is amazing. So happy to be able to see and share the beautiful stages of your lives.

Our deepest condolenses to you and family Charlie!
