Dwayne Colp

DWAYNE COLP
November 26, 1938 – February 3, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dwayne Colp of Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 3, 2026, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87.
Born in Bayport, Nova Scotia in 1938, Dwayne moved to New Westminster, British Columbia at the age of 11 and settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba in his mid-twenties. He married Eileen in 1972 and started a family a few years later. He worked as a draftsman for Number Ten Architectural Group from 1965 until his retirement in 2000. After his marriage to Beth in 1999, he embraced the opportunity for adventure and he and Beth moved to New South Wales, Australia in 2000 and then returned on his own to Winnipeg in 2007.
Dwayne will be remembered for his quiet strength, warmth, generosity and gentle spirit. He had a deep appreciation for hot summer days, classic cars, vintage postcards and stamps and Art Nouveau, along with a life-long love of music - just a few of the many simple pleasures that enriched his life.
Above all, Dwayne cherished his family. He is deeply missed by his son Ryan (Hélène); his daughter Jenny Prieur (Matt); and his beloved granddaughters, Madison and Harper who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also lovingly remembered by his first wife and children’s mother, Eileen Colp; half-brother Robert Glencross (Maggie) of Hamilton, ON; half-sisters, Paula House (Dale) of Vineland, ON and Nancy Young (Chris) of Pitt Meadows, BC; and his other family and friends who will treasure their fond memories of him.
Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Dwayne’s life and the many memories he leaves behind. The family sincerely thanks relatives and friends for their comfort, kindness and expressions of sympathy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dwayne’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

I worked with Dwayne at both the Downtown Winnipeg Consortium and later at Number Ten Architects in Winnipeg in the eay '80's. Dwayne taught me a lot and I considered him a mentor and friend. We enjoyed many good times together and with other workmates and friends. I knew he'd moved to Australia and always wondered what had become of him.

Mr. C was one of a kind, and will be missed greatly. Jenny and I gave our parents some headaches as youngsters, but he was always so warm to me over the years, and I always loved seeing him and sharing the odd parking lot beer. My sincere condolences to Ryan and Helene, Jenny and Matt, and Eileen. Rest well Mr. C, and thank you for your kindness. Love you.
