NETTIE MOLLY CRERAN

(née GINGERA)

June 19, 1938 - November 29, 2023

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Nettie, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023.

Nettie was born on the family farm in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba to parents Michael and Mollie (nee Burtnyk) Gingera. Second youngest of 13 children, she gained her strong work ethic and many life skills on that farm. She relocated to Winnipeg at the age of 19 and began working as a dental assistant. Shortly after she met the love of her life, Ron Creran at a dance hall and they were married in 1962.

Nettie held several jobs throughout her life as her magnetic personality had many businesses attempt to recruit her. She had a knack for sales and began selling Tupperware as a second job and quickly became a manager which she loved and enjoyed much success. She enjoyed many jobs including office manager of a dental office, catering, and restaurant service, where her ability to connect with people secured her many regular customers. While she excelled at all her jobs, her greatest achievement was the family she built with Ron and how she cared for each member in it.

Nettie always had a kind word for everyone she met and her warm, friendly nature and positive energy had her brighten every room she entered. She and Ron loved to entertain friends and family and Nettie ensured everyone was taken care of with her exceptional cooking skills and special way of making everyone feel welcome. Her love of gardening was evident in her immaculate flower and vegetable gardens with not a weed to be found. She made the best pickles, perogies, cabbage rolls and jelly and we were lucky that she shared them widely! She loved her bowling league, the occasional casino visit, “garage sale-ing” and, above all, spending time with friends and family. She was a great mom, loved each of her grandchildren and was always ready for a chat. She was extremely generous on many levels, always helping those in need of an uplifting visit, a ride to an appointment, grocery delivery, or a home cooked meal and she made regular visits to a care home to ensure seniors were not lonely.

Nettie was predeceased by her parents, husband Ron, siblings Olga, Jean, Lana, Walter, Anne, Ernie, Rose, Ross, John and Michael.

She will be greatly missed by her children Jim and wife Catherine, Scott and wife Michelle, as well as her five grandchildren; Kyle, Julia, Shanon, Logan and Grace.

Nettie is survived by sisters Helen Malange of Coquitlam, BC and Marina Raskbo of Fonthill, ON, several extended family members and many treasured friends.

Jim and Scott - I am so sorry to hear this.  Your mother was such a wonderful person.  My dad so appreciated her phone calls and visits when his health was deteriorating and he was in and out of hospitals in Winnipeg. She has joined your Dad and I'm sure they are both looking down at you both and your families.  I wish I would have seen this a month ago, as I would have gladly come to join you in celebrating her live.

I have so many great memories of Auntie Nettie including many growing up and her generosity of hosting my shower and party before my wedding.  We are grateful to have had a recent visit to talk and take a walk in the backyard and by the garden. Sending our love and condolences❤
