WENDY DAWN CROCKER

(née DUGUAY)

October 25th 1959 - June 22 2021

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend on June 22 2021 at the age of 61.

Wendy is survived by husband and love of her life Fred; children, James, Anita (Stefan), and Samantha (Angie); grandchildren, Miranda, Carter, Mason, Fletcher and Adalyn; siblings, Evan (Belinda), Shelley (Dave), and Kenneth; stepbrother Rick; as well as foster brothers, Shawn (Charlene), Lee (Crystal), Marcel and Coulton.  She was predeceased by her Mother Phyllis Rose; father Thomas; stepfather Jack; bother Rodney; and stepbrother Randy.

Mom was born in Winnipeg where she lived for most of her life.  She started working at a young age, always proving her dedication and hard work which got her promoted to some supervisor or management level roles.  In 1993 she started working for Defehr furniture and stayed there for about 16 years.  Most recently working at The Health Sciences Centre for the last 12 years.

In 2013 Mom married the love of her life and awesome stepdad Fred.  He spoiled her with love and cooked and took care of the house while Mom was at work and cared for her during her illness.  Thank you, Fred, for all you have done. We are all lucky Mom found you.

Some of mom’s hobbies and interests were Kinsman bingo, crafts, baking, beach days, camp fires, country music, spa days at The Forks Inn, mani/pedis, shoes and having visits with friends.  The one thing Mom loved the most was her grandchildren.  She was a proud nana.  She loved spoiling the grandkids with gifts or treats, having Miranda and Mason for sleep overs or traveling to Victoria to see Carter, Fletcher and Adalyn.

Mom had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need.  Supporting charities, fundraisers, and friend’s events to help the cause.  She was once recognized in the local paper for helping organize a healthy meal for children in need.  She was always there to support family and friends when they were sick or in need.  She was with her mother Phyllis almost every day while she was in hospital for 8 months but that was Mom; she was always there.

The family would like to thank all of her coworkers at HSC for their support and friendship.  All the staff at HSC and CancerCare for the amazing care they provided Mom during her illness.  A special thank you to Joanne for being there for Mom. You always made the effort to stay in touch and visit Mom, giving her rides and just being there for her to talk to. Also, a thank you to Becky for taking Mom out for a spa day and bringing her treats when she had cravings.

To my siblings, thank you Sam for being there when Mom needed you.  Helping her with daily tasks and errands.  Thank you, Anita, for taking time away from your family to stay with Mom for months at a time, to help her through her diagnosis and treatments.  Mom was so very proud of us all.

Lastly, I speak on behalf of Mom to let her sister Shelley know that Mom will always be the better looking sister.

As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a service. Wendy’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Cancer Care Manitoba.

My mother

Our mother is the greatest,

The most best mom there could be,

We will always look up to her!

And be the best us, we can be.

She was always there for us,

Through the thick and thin,

No matter the time or day,

She would always let us in.

She would listen with her heart,

And wipe away our tears,

She would hold us in her arms,

And take away all our fears.

She was the sun in our skies,

That brighten each and every day,

The voice in our head,

That said everything’s ok.

If God would grant me one wish,

It would be that she could have stayed,

So, you could have been with us,

For each and every day!

Your favorite colours blue,

Your looked real great in red.

You loved to play your bingo,

And watching tv with Fred.

You loved to cook and bake,

You would buy gifts all year round.

You would wrap them so perfectly,

And had them waiting safe and sound.

You always took care of us,

From the very start.

You’re as close to a saint as God could make,

He broke the mold with you from the start.

We have always looked up to you,

Our whole life through.

Whenever we were in trouble,

We could always count on you.

When I think of you as my mother,

And the persons you build us to be

You Inspire us like no other,

You have built us up.

To be as great as we can strive to be.

If God made more like you,

The world would be a better place,

Through your caring and unconditional love,

There isn't a problem that we’re not ready to face.

You have prepared us for the worst,

But always hope for the best.

You have taught us to be the best we could be,

No matter the problem or the test.

We grieve the most, because we know the world lost someone so dear!

To lose someone that means so much,

Were the greatest of our fears.

“You were the best, better than all the rest

Better than anyone, anyone we have ever met.”.
