ROGER CROTEAU

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que la famille annonce le décès de Roger Croteau, survenu paisiblement à St-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, à l’âge de 81 ans.

Né et élevé à St-Pierre-Jolys, Roger était le fils bien-aimé de feu Émile et de feu Maria (Mulaire) Croteau. Il fut précédé dans la mort par ses frères Raymond, Gérald, Pierre et André.

Au fil des ans, Roger a mené une vie remplie de travail et de dévouement. Il a travaillé comme fermier, mécanicien de diesel lourd, bûcheron, propriétaire d’entreprise, puis comme homme d’entretien au site la Fourche à Winnipeg. Peu importe son rôle, son grand sens du travail, sa polyvalence et son caractère se faisaient toujours remarquer.

Roger a toujours eu une grande passion pour le curling et le baseball. Qu’il joue, regarde ou encourage ses équipes préférées, son amour pour ces sports ne s’est jamais éteint. À la retraite, il a aimé passer du temps à son chalet avec ses frères, travailler dans son jardin et voyager dans des pays plus chauds pendant l’hiver.

Il laisse dans le deuil son frère Lucien (Bertille) Croteau, sa sœur Pauline (Dennis) Macklin, sa belle-sœur Florence (feu André) Croteau, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

La famille tient à remercier de tout cœur ses bons amis Rolly Gagné, Gilbert, Reynald et tous ceux qui l’ont soutenu avec amitié et bonté tout au long de sa vie. Un merci spécial est également adressé aux infirmières et aux médecins de l’Hôpital De Salaberry pour les soins empreints de compassion qu’ils lui ont offerts.

Les funérailles auront lieu le vendredi 12 septembre 2025, à l’église catholique de St-Pierre-Jolys. Le service commencera à 10 h 40 avec un chapelet dirigé par les Chevaliers de Colomb, suivi de la messe funéraire à 11 h. Un léger repas sera servi ensuite à la Cabane à Sucre, située au Musée de St-Pierre-Jolys, 432 rue Joubert.

Au lieu de fleurs, des dons en mémoire de Roger peuvent être faits à l’organisme de bienfaisance de votre choix.

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Roger Croteau, who passed away peacefully in St. Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba, at the age of 81.

Born and raised in St. Pierre-Jolys, Roger was the beloved son of the late Emile and Maria (Mulaire) Croteau. He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond, Gerald, Pierre, and Andre.

Over the years, Roger lived a life full of hard work and dedication. He farmed, worked as a heavy diesel mechanic and lumberjack, became a business owner, and later served as a maintenance man at The Forks in Winnipeg. No matter the role, Roger’s strong work ethic, versatility, and character shone through.

Roger had a lifelong love of curling and baseball — whether playing, watching, or cheering on his favorite teams, his passion never waned. In retirement, he especially enjoyed time at his cottage, working alongside his brothers, tending his garden, and escaping to warm destinations during the winter months.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Lucien (Bertille) Croteau, sister Pauline (Dennis) Macklin, sister-in-law Florence (Andre) Croteau, and many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Roger’s dear friends Rolly Gagné Gilbert, Reynald, and all those who supported him with kindness and companionship throughout his life. A special thank-you is also extended to the nurses and doctors at De Salaberry Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at St. Pierre-Jolys Catholic Church. The service will begin at 10:40 a.m. with a Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A light lunch will follow at the Musee St. Pierre-Jolys – Cabane à Sucre Hall, 432 Joubert St

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
