The terrible news came and I wasn't ready for it old friend. Keith was a fixture as much as a friend for the many years I had known him. We met on the patio at Cousins Deli in Woseley Winnipeg in the later 80’s  and became fast friends when the guitar came out and Stan Rogers  and John Prine sing a longs ensued. A hard worker and active living till health issues later in life slowed his roll, We would regularly assemble for a post work beer or two and sometimes much more, chat with the many that made up the community of people that congregated and wandered through, in and past our regular haunt and our lives. Cousins was Keith's "Cheers". He was a fixture, and was, a ‘Norm’ of sorts However, much more than a stool occupant, good with a one line or two, he was to me a stalwart salt of the earth friend and a trustworthy caring confident and friend to many. There were also those who were special too - and they know who they are. He loved music - playing it , sharing it and teaching it. His forte the guitar. He loved to be recognized for being good at it and desired to please others with it. He was a terrific, dedicated and knowledgeable member of the Folk Fest Schlepper crew for many years. He was at times the camp site dad and could be counted on for curmudgeonly observation and  occasional scolding of those who did not clean up after themselves. Reliably the self appointed keeper of the campfire. While it seemed obtuse to those who did not know him, he was watching and caring for people always in his own way. Keith started to experience some health issues that left him stoically dealing with pain and eventual loss of mobility which was an assault on his independence he truly despised but contended with defiantly, even stubbornly resisting changes to protect himself.  I will miss you dear old friend. Your wisdom, your humour, your political correctness, your love of music and people, your cantankerous moments, your moments of light and clarity He was a working class hero.. The dreaded "dirt nap" we jokingly shared we had avoided once again finally claimed you. I hope there is peace, love and light there old friend. Its just a little quieter sadder and darker without you on this side. I hope the Angel from Montgomery is with you. RIP Keith! Drew Fenwick- July 16,2022

I have missed the old Jam nights every Sunday at my place. There were times the music was so good 😊.
