LORRAINE JOSEPHINE CYR

October 24, 1935 - November 20, 2022

With heavy and loving hearts, we announce that Lorraine passed away peacefully with family at her side at Riverview Health Center at the age of 87.

Lorraine is survived by her four sons, Joe (Dawn), Gary (Joanne), Tom (Cathy), and Terry (Cindy); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; extended family; and a wide group of loving, caring friends. She adored her family and was loved and revered by them as she touched and impacted them in such a profound and positive way. Her family was her source of greatest pride and joy.

Lorraine was a remarkable and resilient woman, noted for her legendary work ethic, meticulous approach to everything she did and giving, caring spirit. She will be remembered for her inner strength and resolve as she overcame the many obstacles and setbacks that came her way. She just powered through it all and was a tower of strength and source of inspiration.

She loved the business she started late in her 50’s, Pay’N’Less Tax, and her hundreds of clients that she served so well. Many became close friends over the years. She was a breast cancer survivor and gave back to fight cancer in a big way through the gift-wrapping service she ran at Kildonan Place for many years, and her Bouncing Beauties team.

Lorraine's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

A brief service will be held at St Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Avenue in Winnipeg, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday December 14, followed by a reception in the church hall to remember her life and wonderful legacy. All are welcome.

I met Lorraine when I was walking through Kildonan place.  I love gift wrapping and spotted this petite lady with a huge smile behind the counter of the booth.I came to Know her, through the booth.  She had an amazing spirit.  Always smiling, talking about her family in Dauphin and how she had to get the perogies and cabbage rolls ready for family gatherings.  We lived in Dauphin for a while and spent summers in our trailer on a lot we purchased there.  Unbeknownst to us her family had built a home there.  She also believed that they purchased our trailer and lot when we returned to Winnipeg (but she wasn’t completely sure).  She would do anything for anyone if it was in her power.  A truly beautiful woman, inside and out💝. I met Lorraine at our new assisted living home. She sat at my table and we became instant friends. Lorraine and I could talk about anything but we mostly talked about our families and how proud we were of them. I miss her so much but I realize how lucky we were to find each other when we were in our eighties. Miss you and love you Lorraine. My condolences to her four boys and their families.
