DARWIN LINDSAY RAYMOND

August 23, 1964 - September 29, 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our friend, cousin, son, brother, and uncle; Darwin Lindsay Raymond on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 56.

Darwin was pre-deceased by his biological father Richard.  Remaining to forever cherish his life is his mother Teri Williams, sister Laurie Filmer, sister Tammy Bradley, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Darwin was born in Vancouver, BC and grew up in Edmonton, AB.  Darwin was a huge Edmonton Eskimos fan, and his room was painted and furnished to reflect that.

He came to live in White Rock, BC to work with his stepfather Arthur in the late 1980s building pallets.  He lived with Ina Williams, Arthur’s mother and helped take care of her.  It was there in 1991 that Darwin’s cousin Jim and his family came to live together in Ina’s house.  Upon Ina (grandma’s) death Darwin left White Rock, and moved with Jim and his family to Yorkton, SK and then to Manitoba in 1997.

Darwin worked in Brandon at the Brandon Shoppers Mall as a custodian until the move to Winnipeg in 2002.  Darwin started working for Allan’s Glass and Aluminum Products in 2003 as a driver and installation helper until it changed hands.  He stayed in the glass business working for All Weather Windows, Security Glass and then to Glass8Inc.  He loved the comradery that he experienced with his co-workers and the customers he interacted with.

He developed many friendships and would often be at a friend’s house visiting and having a coffee and chatting about football teasing his friends about every Edmonton Eskimos win.

Since 1991, Darwin has been a Netzlaw family member.  He helped us care for and raise our children.  He was helpful around the house, He helped with the setup crew at church, and made friends easily wherever he went.  He was always good-natured and generous.  He will be especially missed by Jim, Christie, Stirling, Gabriel and Graham.

Darwin’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

It came as a shock to hear of Darwin's passing. I knew him when he was a child as Laurie and I were best friends for years. I remember Darwin as a kindhearted, jokster, and a young man whom I was always found of. The family that I knew as a child always opend their hearts and house to me and there was always love, loyalty and laughter in the home. At that time in my life I was greatful to have found these friendships. Rest easy Darwin and know that you will be missed by many. With much love to Laurie Filmer and Family.  Michelle Haslehurst

I've been giving this a lot of thought since I was first told Darwin had passed. I remember when he started at Allans Glass, and how the relationships he formed there meant the world to him. Most of the time, his humor and desire to please sat well with his co-workers as he was dependable and so very loyal. There was the day a new employee did not fare well with Darwin and I stepped in. I told the 'new guy' that he was over estimating his importance, and he better know that Darwin would be around  a lot longer than he would be, if he didn't lay off the bullying. I remember the day Darwin was let go from AGAP too-he was so devastated to leave the people he loved, and the job he found so much pride in. I was pleased to hear he did find work right away, and even happier to know that he returned to AGAP - now Glass 8. Darwin was one of a kind, and I am thankful for having known him. Sending my thoughts to everyone who shared their lives with him, I know that is missed.

I worked with Darwin at Glass 8 for the last year. He was such a joy to be around, always full of happiness and laughter. There was never a dull moment when he was around. We miss him so much. Rest In Peace ❤

What a special friend Darwin was! We loved hanging out with him and he and George were buddies and die-hard Edmonton Eskimos Fans together!! You’d often see them wearing their t-shirts or jerseys in church - any time -  but especially during the football season! We were so thrilled when Darwin gave his life to Jesus & we could celebrate his baptism together as his church family. Our hearts were broken to hear of his passing, but we are so thankful that he’s safely home with Jesus. We are praying for you all, that God would pour out His comfort and peace in your hearts as you grieve his loss! We feel totally blessed and grateful to have had Darwin touch our lives in such a special way & look forward to seeing him again when we get to Heaven!  George & Linette Stanton
