HENRIETTA ALICE DECUYPERE

(Née Blanchard)

September 19, 1929 – June 25, 2026

Henrietta DeCuypere (née Blanchard) passed away on June 25, 2026, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born on September 19, 1929, to Noe Blanchard and Marie Louise Blanchard.

Henrietta grew up in Coderre, Saskatchewan, where she remained until the age of 18. She then moved to Winnipeg to begin her independent life. In the 1950s, she met Henry DeCuypere, and they were married in 1956. Together, they shared a devoted and loving marriage built on family, companionship, and shared experiences.

Henrietta was a deeply spiritual person. Her faith guided many aspects of her life and remained an important source of strength and comfort throughout her years. For many years, she worked as a secretary in the Pastoral Care Department at St. Boniface Hospital, where her compassion and steady presence were appreciated by many.

Henrietta carried herself with grace and dignity throughout her life. She was a very elegant and well-presented lady, always taking pride in her appearance and home. Her household reflected her sense of order, care, and attention to detail, and she was admired for the quiet pride she took in creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Henrietta and her husband Henry shared a deep love and respect for nature and wildlife, especially the beauty of birds and their songs. In 1976, they built a cottage at Grindstone Provincial Park, where they spent many cherished years enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the natural surroundings and the friendships they formed within the community.

Throughout their life together, Henrietta and Henry raised their children and built a home filled with warmth and togetherness. They enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time at their cottage, creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Henrietta was predeceased by her husband, Henry DeCuypere (2006), and her son David (2025).

She is lovingly remembered by her son Michael (Joane), her grandson Nico, Nico’s wife Jami, and their daughter Tora.

A service to celebrate Henrietta’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m.  on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at St. Timothy’s Church, 135 John Forsyth Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A reception will follow at the church.

Dear Michael and family,

I think the last time I saw Aunt Henrietta was when she visited Ottawa with Uncle Henry in 2001, as shown in the photo with me, my son Nick and my ex. I have many fond memories of our families spending time together during our childhoods. She was always very kind and patient. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Michael,

My sincere condolences for your loss--it is hard to lose a mom, but so soon after your brother David... Take care, cousin Rachel.
