FRANCES KATHERINE DEDURA
May 28, 1949 – April 19, 2026
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Frances Katherine DeDura, 77, of Winnipeg. A loving mother and spirited friend, Frances will be deeply missed.
Frances was born on May 28, 1949 in Port Arthur, ON, near Thunder Bay, to Helga Myllymaki and William DeDura. She is survived by her daughter, Samantha (Robert), and two grandchildren, Lydia and Louis; her beloved friend Alvin; her brother Donald (Nellie); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Raymond (Evelyn), Patricia (Seaforth), Audrey and Harvey.
A lifelong learner, Frances graduated from the University of Winnipeg with a degree in Accounting. She had a passion for history and anthropology, especially Egyptology. She was compassionate and generous with her time, volunteering at her daughter’s school in the 1990s to help children learn to read. Frances shared her life with many well-loved animals, including cats, dogs, birds, hedgehogs and chinchillas.
Never one to pass up a good time, Frances enjoyed nights out and, later in life, regular visits to the casino with her partner, Al. Her humor and smile were infectious and will not be forgotten.
No ceremony is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to your local animal rescue in Frances’ honor.

Dear Sam and family-I had the absolute pleasure of having met Frances when Sam and I went together to Winnipeg. Just like her daughter, she was full of life, kindness, beauty, goodness, and wisdom. It was so many years ago, but she definitely left a mark on my heart end. I am a better person for having met her. I am so sorry for the pain of her loss. May you find strength and comfort in the tough days ahead.May you find strength and comfort in the tough days ahead.

Dear Samantha and family, sending our heartfelt sympathy to you in this difficult time. Auntie Fran was a real beauty Inside and out. I have fond memories of going on the bus to Winnipeg back in the early 80s for a visit with Auntie Audrey, my mother(Patricia) brother James and cousins Robbie and Davie to see Auntie Frances and Uncle Harvey. She took us to see Star Wars Return of the Jedi back in 1983, a wonderful memory. Although visits were rare, it was always so nice to visit and see the fun banter that arose when mom (Patricia), Harvey, Auntie Audrey, and Auntie Frances got together. They are all together now, I can imagine the reunion they are having. Rest in peace Auntie Frances. With love from Kara❤️
