RAYMONDE DePAPE

(née Tougas) (Vouriot)

February 10, 1932 – February 6, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on February 6, 2025.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Diane, Lorraine (Bruce), Jackie, Janet, Robert (Carlene), Pat (Dino); her grandchildren, Danielle, Joël, Jean-Paul, Kevin, Katie, Mitchell, Matthew, Kyle, Nicole, Mélanie, and Josée; and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Rémi, Éric, Nora, Isla, and Joëlle; her sisters, Lucienne Tougas and Patricia Lanovaz; special friend Firmin DeRiviere; and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Ron DePape; her parents, Omer and Antoinette Tougas; her three brothers, Ulysse Tougas, Gérald Tougas, and Lionel Tougas; sisters, Cécile Tougas, Laurette Théberge, and Lucille St. Amant; her son-in-law Gil Laurendeau; and the father of her children Léo Vouriot.

Raymonde was born and raised in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. After Teachers’ college, she taught in Dufresne, Fort Garry and La Salle where she met and married Léo. The last fourteen years of her career, Raymonde taught at St. Norbert Immersion School. She enjoyed working with young children and was always amazed at how eager her students were to learn. She had fond memories of those years and her students.

Summer weekends were reserved for camping and fishing. Raymonde and Ron explored different campsites in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario. She always enjoyed bowling and dancing with her relatives and friends. Later, she returned to her passion for reading and word games. If you passed her condo door you could often hear laughter, animated conversation, and spirited competition. Raymonde said that those times were the most precious.

Raymonde was a strong, proud woman who lived her life with grace, integrity and a deep love for her family.

According to Raymonde’s wishes a private inurnment and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.

Raymonde’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I have fond memories of going to your house to play with Jackie, and the others, but mostly Jackie and Mrs Vouriot was always so sweet. She had the most genuine smile.

my deepest condolences to all of you, your mother was a gem. RIP Mrs Vourior.

To Raymonde's family,

Sincere condoleances to you all. I first met your Mom at St. Norbert School when she and I were teaching in the open area immersion. We became good friends then. We reconnected after we retired and spent many an afternoon playing JARNAC, having coffee and sharing many thoughts and feelings.. I last talked to her in January and was looking forward to going to spent some time as soon as the weather got better. She was in my thoughts on her birthday as I wondered how she was doing. I will miss her.

To Raymonde's family,

I was saddened to read about Raymonde's passing in today's paper. I offer you my heartfelt sympathy.

I met your mother in 1973 In St. Norbert

when I was a new teacher. Raymonde was a kind and gentle soul. I learned so much from her during my first years of teaching. It was a privilege to be her colleague and friend.
