DAVID “DAVE” DERKSEN

March 20, 1946 – March 21, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that Dave Derksen passed away on March 21 at the age of 79.

He is survived by their wife of 58 years Trudy; children, Kim (Russ), Warren (Carol), Brian; grandchildren, Sandra (Dave), Elyse, Ashley (Justin), Brittany (Brody); great grandchildren, Michael, Vianne, William, Iyla, Paityn, Jayden; siblings, Anne (Jim), Linda, Kathy (Clyde), Brock (Nadine); extended family and friends, etc.

Dad was born in Winkler on March 20, 1946. He was the second child of Susan Brokenshire. For the first 13 years of his life, the family moved around a lot. At the age of 13, he went to live with his two aunts in Winkler and he - with his siblings - were raised by them until he moved out at age 18. He then moved to Winnipeg and lived there for the rest of his life.

Dad enjoyed many different things such as woodworking, sewing, playing games, camping, etc. His greatest joy of all was having his family over and cooking for them.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

Dave’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

One of my fondest childhood memories of Uncle Dave is of walking into their house and Uncle Dave would start singing the song 'Peggy Sue' but substituting that with Tammy Sue. ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Lots of great memories in Yorkton. Trudy and Dave helped living away from our families easier. They once babysat our son Jordan and gave him his first kit Kat bar at 6 mths old. Lol. Take care Trudy❤️

What a Loving Man he was. ❤️

So many memories of him, his kindness, gentle spirit. A man whom went out of his way to help you.

Driving me to the church on my wedding day.

Driving me to job interviews.

Lending us his car.

The laughter we had at paritie, socials and in his home.

Truly a man whom will be missed by all ❤️🥲
