DIANNE MARIE LYNN DESHARNAIS
May 8, 1953 – November 27, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dianne Desharnais on November 27, 2024, at the age of 71.
She was predeceased by her parents, Denis and Anne; and her brother, Darren.
Dianne leaves behind her beloved husband, Roger, with whom she shared 29 wonderful years of marriage; her stepchildren, Guy (Crystal) and Marcel; and her step-grandchildren, Chloe, Christian, and Ethan. She will also be deeply missed by for her siblings: Ray “Cookie”, Judith (Rick), and Ron; her nieces, Danielle and Carley; and her nephew, Christian.
Born on May 8, 1953, Dianne grew up in West St. Paul, where she spent her childhood helping around the house and earned the nickname “Chi Chi” from her father. Her school years were filled with many great memories, laughter, and friendships, which carried into her life as she formed close bonds with colleagues and loved ones.
Diagnosed with lupus at a young age, Dianne faced her health challenges with courage and resilience. These experiences inspired her to become a nurse, where she dedicated years to St. Boniface Hospital and later transitioned to the Manitoba Clinic. Her compassion and empathy touched countless lives, leaving a profound impact on her patients, colleagues, and everyone who knew her.
Although Dianne was a private and quiet person, her life was filled with passions that brought her joy. She loved gardening, especially tending to flowers that brought vibrant beauty to her surroundings. She was a devoted cat foster, finding joy in caring for animals in need. Dianne was also an avid traveler who enjoyed visiting the Caribbean, a fan of comedy shows, and a bargain hunter with a unique knack for finding treasures such as Japanese art. Her golf outings with her close-knit group, affectionately known as the "Humpty Dumpties," were a source of great enjoyment and camaraderie.
Dianne’s friends and colleagues fondly remember her as someone who was always willing to help, whether through her kindness, a listening ear, or even tidying a home when needed. Her gentle spirit and warm smile left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Honoring Dianne’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In her memory, we invite you to plant flowers, take a moment to appreciate their beauty, and reflect on your connection to her. If you’d like to share a memory or story about Dianne, please leave a comment below. Donations in her honor can also be made to Winnipeg Cat Rescue or Lupus Canada.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, particularly in ICU doctors and nurses who provided comfort and care during Dianne’s final days.
She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with those around her.

To family and friends of Dianne , my heartfelt condolences for your loss. I met Dianne from working at The Manitoba Clinc. Although not directly working with her, you knew who she was. Her direct approach to problem solving.. telling it as it was. The last 2 times when a few of our small retired group met for lunch , she was there. We'd sit for hours sharing life stories ....with lots of laughter.! Often finding it hard to wind up , she once asked me if I'd come next time, I says sure....so ..., until next time , Dianne

I still can't believe you are gone forever Dianne.
Over the past 25 years of friendship we shared a lot of memories, lots of laughs during our golf tournaments at Clear Lake and Granite hills, just to mention a few and also a lot of sorrows.
You left your mark on our lives, you will never be forgotten!
Rest in Peace Dianne.
