Larry Doerksen

LARRY DOERKSEN
1949 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Larry Brian Doerksen on the morning of October 30th, with family by his side.
Larry is survived by his wife Gayle; sons, Trevor and Chris; and grandchildren, Alyssa and Nicholas. He will also be missed by his siblings and their partners, Dennis and Yvonne, Al and Diane, Tim and Michelle, Ron, and Darlene and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was enjoying his retirement years spending time with his family and friends, and was a regular at Menshed where he enjoyed playing crib with the guys. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Bombers and Jets. He also loved walking the family dogs and enjoyed sitting in the sun on his deck in the summer.
Son to Peter and Nettie, he grew up on the family farm near Altona, Manitoba, where he enjoyed working on the family farm. As an adult Larry moved to Winnipeg where he met his future wife, Gayle. Together they struck out for Alberta where they were married and had their first son, Trevor. Soon they were on their way back to Winnipeg where they had their second son, Chris. After that his job took the family north to The Pas where they spent 8 years and formed many long lasting friendships. After that it was back to Winnipeg for a crack at the restaurant business before ultimately finishing his career as a courier driver.
Larry was a great and supportive friend, loving husband, proud father and Poppa. He will be remembered for his kindness, good nature, and the quiet generosity he showed his friends and family.
The family is eternally grateful for the care he received in the Acute Cardio Care Unit at St Boniface Hospital. His care team there was exceptional to us all.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a no formal service will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MS Canada.
