CASSANDRA ELIZABETH LEA DOMENCO

"CASS DESTRUCTO"

1990 - 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our daughter Cassandra, on Wednesday March 29, 2023 at the age of 32 years.

Cassandra will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her parents Carrie and Stephane, family and many friends.

Cassandra was part of a very close family, she was the first grandchild. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents and her auntie in her younger years. She loved when she was able to attend family holiday dinners/special occasions.

Cassandra considered many friends to be family, and many of them became a part of our family as well. She was lucky to have so many great close friends.

She was predeceased by both her Domenco and Greig great-grandparents, memere Gaetane Desjardins, her grandpa Michael Domenco referred to as “Pa” and her longtime best friend Chad.

Cassandra was extremely close to her Pa and took losing him very hard, he was the closest she had to a father figure in her younger years and they were so alike. The loss of Chad was so hard for her and she never really recovered from it.

Cassandra was raised in Winnipeg and attended French immersion school, and graduated from Collège Miles Macdonell Collegiate. After graduating high school she moved at the age 17 to the Osborne Village Area and then West Broadway. She loved living in the West Broadway area, close to her friends. She always said that was when she was her happiest.

Music was an important part of her life. This is something she shared with her Pa, he tried his best to make her a fan of his favorites which didn’t work. She loved Punk music and going to shows with friends.

Cassandra had a style of her own. She was known to usually be wearing a band t-shirt cut into a tank top with a denim vest or a leather jacket covered with pins/patches and usually some animal print, specifically leopard.

Cassandra loved to travel. Her first big trip was to NYC for her 21st birthday, she was able to see Las Vegas, she really wanted to return someday for “Punk Rock Bowling”. She had been to Toronto and Vancouver a couple of times. She went to Cozumel Mexico with co-workers. Went on a road trip to Minneapolis to see Patti Smith. She travelled to Cleveland with her “Pa” to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and then to Chicago. Cass’s biggest trip was travelling to St Pauli Hamburg Germany in 2016 for Welt-Turbojugend-Tage with friends. One of her best trips ever.

Cassandra was very artistic and talented from a young age. She loved creating, art was her passion. She worked with many mediums. She wanted to have a career which involved art, her goal was to be a tattoo artist. Her style of choice was traditional. Her work was beautiful and some of us are lucky to have her art with us forever.

Cass worked in the body modification field, as a piercer for many years. She worked the Winnipeg Tattoo Conventions as well as Saskatoon and Montreal Tattoo Conventions.

She started a tattoo apprenticeship, then covid happened. Within the last month or so she was starting to get back into tattooing with the help of a couple of fellow tattoo artists/friends. She loved being back at it with people who cared for her and really appreciated their support.

She loved all animals, she will be dearly missed by her cats Lou aka “Lucifur” and Mavis. As well as Darby her degu. The neighbourhood feral cats will also miss their occasion feedings and cuddles.

Cassandra was a beautiful, talented old soul with a smile that could light up the room. She had a huge heart and cared deeply. She always said it how it was and would stand up for the underdog. She had so much to live for and still so much to give. Her life was cut short too soon. She didn’t get to do everything that she wanted to or was meant to do. This hurts our hearts even more.

Cassandra,

It’s so hard to live without you my beautiful daughter. You taught me how to be a mom, we grew up together and you filled my heart with a love that I didn’t know was possible. I will love you and cherish all we shared forever. I’m so glad we were so close and I was lucky enough to always be very involved in your life. Mom xoxo

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in honor of Cassandra will be held on Saturday May 27, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Park Theatre at 698 Osborne Street Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cassandra’s memory can be made to a local no kill animal foster/shelter.

Love, support and help each other always. Life is too short for anything less.

Cassandra you will always hold a place in my heart. I’ve known you since you were born and remember going to see your Mom at Pa’s when she went into labour. We shared many moments when you were little and that curly blond artistic little girl will always be remembered . I always felt you in my life seeing your pics on FB and the odd msg asking about piercings and tattoos. You were one of our firsts to enjoy and learn from as young Moms. Your Mom was the best Mom ever and inspired me to be one too.  I will miss watching you continue to blossom. Forever in my heart.  Carrie xoxo
