LODIVINA DONATO
May 19, 1953 - May 8, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, sister, and friend, Lodivina (Lody) Miranda Donato at the age of 65 years.
She leaves behind her, daughter Divine (Eric); son Robert (Debbie); and grandchildren, Cathrine, Emily, Alyssa, Kayla, and Nash. She is also survived by her siblings, Emelita (Rudy), Nestor (Beth), Edgardo (Lucylaida), and Dolores (Lito). Her nieces and nephews, Roger, Eileen, Dennis, Oliver, Joey, Nerriza, Sheila, Sasha, Melanie, Aubrey, Jore Mae, Joshua, Erick, Lara, and Nicole. As well as many extended family.
Lody was predeceased by her parents, Emilio and Jacinta and her brothers Efren, Rolly, Rennie, and Jorge.
Lody joined her eldest sister, Emelita, in Canada in 1973. After working as a seamstress for years, Lody decided to pursue a career in health care. At the age of 37, while raising her son and daughter, Lody went back to school to obtain a Health Care Aide certificate. Upon graduation, Lody began her 25+ year career with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) as a home care attendant. Lody’s dedication and love for her job was apparent to everyone, she always said how much she enjoyed ‘visiting’ her clients. When Lody retired three years ago, she did so reluctantly. If not for the aches in her hands and legs, she might have still been working. She said she missed the sense of purpose and friendships she had at work.
When not at work, Lody was often found in the kitchen baking or cooking, or working on one of her many crochet projects. She also found joy in gardening, writing, and drawing. Those who knew her, will remember her for her generosity and kindness.
