MARJORIE ANNE DOYLE
June 20, 1947 – November 15, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Marjorie Anne Doyle at St. Boniface Hospital on November 15, 2024. She was 77, a loving mother and ex-wife.
Marjorie was born on June 20, 1947 and lived in St. Vital until 1974 when she and husband Martin moved to their little house on the prairie, in Birds Hill. She resided there until their separation in 1999 and eventual divorce in 2004 when she again moved back to St. Vital.
Marjorie’s passion was her husband and children. She always encouraged them in their activities, from Martin’s writing and his company to her children’s schooling, sports, and music. Martin, Margo, and Buck meant everything to her.
Left to mourn are her children, Margo (Mathew) and Buck; her siblings, Dennis, her movie buddy, her best friend and phone buddy Marion (Dale), Tom (Colleen), her computer and television buddy and movie buddy Karen (Paul); as well as precious nieces and nephews and their children; cousins as well as friends both in Guiding and Marriage Encounter; and her ex-husband Martin Gerrard.
Marjorie was predeceased by her father and mother, John and Marion; two brothers, Jim and Ron.
Marjorie believed in volunteering whether it be at her kid’s school events, church, CNIB, U of M Retirees, condo association or her life long association with Girl Guides. She became a Girl Guide member at age eight and remained one until her death. She held many positions in Guiding from unit leader to Provincial Commissioner. Marjorie truly believed that Guiding was the best organization for girls and women. She often said “The best part of Guiding is spending time with the girls and women in Guiding”. She made many friends in Girl Guides who to this day remain her friends. She especially loved the fun times with the members of the Trefoil Guild.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the 1st Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, MB R3M 0A7.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 603 Wellington Crescent (1st Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg).
Marjorie’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

To Margo and Buck, Your mom was a gem. You created a beautiful tribute to her on December 6. I worked closely with her for a time at the First UU church. She was my confidant and wise counsel. Thank you for speaking of your love of your mom at that wonderful celebration of her life. It meant so much to all who were there.. She would be proud of you.

I knew Marjorie through Guiding. She had opinions, and helpful advise, and was always willing to help and be present. There are some people when you meet them you just think - I like her. This is how I felt about Marjorie. She shared advise on guiding, family stories and travel stories. Gone too soon. My condolences to her family.

Grateful to her driving my daughter abd myself to Chalice Circle many years ago. And sharing and listening at the Chalice Circle evenings. And as a fellow Girl Guider I thank her for volunteering.
