GARY DUCHARME

November 1, 1958 – June 14, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Gary Ducharme on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 66 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his sister-in-law, Dale Ducharme; nieces, Jolene (Mike) Silvaggio and Stacey (Randal) Bonneteau; great nieces and nephews, Breanne, Brayden, Nathan, and Alina; and great-great nephews and niece, Grayson, Kai, Noah, and Rue.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Rene (1982) and Leona (2010); siblings, Allan (2021) and Maureen (1999); and nephew Marc (2007).

Gary worked for the city of Winnipeg until his retirement in 2013.

He loved golfing, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Winnipeg Jets, and surrounding himself with family and friends. He was a quiet man, with a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending time at the Ducharme cabin at Falcon Lake, often popping in and out just to enjoy a quick visit or a round of golf at the lake. He showed love through his actions, always there if you needed him or asked him to come by for a visit. He never hesitated to lend a hand or give someone a ride to where they needed to go. He took pride in his vehicles, yard and of course the newest phone technology he could get his hands on.

We will miss his endless stories,

jokes, laughs and car rides.

The family would like to thank the city of Winnipeg Fire and Police Departments for their kindness and compassion.

A celebration of life will take place from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Belgian Club, 407 Provencher Blvd, Winnipeg Manitoba. A private internment will take place at another time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breakthrough T1D or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Fly safe with the angels,

your family is now complete.

Gary’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Gary was a dear neighbour and friend. We chatted all the time on the front lawn or the lane behind our houses. If I needed an extra pair of hands for a project Gary was not only always available but curious as well about what we were working on. Gary also watched over the street like a mother hen; he was our very own Neighbourhood Watch. Edgewood will be a very different place without him.

Sandy and I offer our condolences to Gary's family. Gary was a life long friend to both Sandy and I going back to the early eighties, we have spend countless weekends in Woodridge snowmobiling as well as vacationing in Pheonix. I have posted a few pictures of our dear friend Gary. As many of his friends and family know Gary was an avid snowmobiler, we started back in the early eighties. The original three Amigos were Gary, Rick Dionne and myself, we quickly became the four Amigos with the addition of Gil Bourrier filling the fourth spot. I would estimate that we put on in excess of 100,000 miles over a period of 25 years. One of the photos shows Gary taking a jump on his Formula 111, he loved the airtime. Another shows the four amigos stopping for a break on the trail, from left to right is myself, Gil, Gary and Rick. A picture of Sandy, Gary and Rick taking a well deserved break on the trail. Another of Gary and I after a ride out in thirty below zero weather. lastly a picture of our fishing club, Gary fourth from the right. we had many great times with Gary and miss him dearly. Rest in peace my friend.

Only part of my message sent

we are so very sorry for your loss.. I remember so many gatherings seeing Gary at aunty Martha's for Christmas and many, many get together at falcon lake and auntie Leona's place on Edgewood. They were always so much fun. Gary took many walks and often stopped in at my dads for a short chat, he was always so kind.I'm sorry we can't attend his celebration of life but our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

My condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with all of Gary's family. I have two favorite memories from a very long time ago! One is the family Christmas parties where "the kids", so many of us, put together a play and then came and performed for the adults. So much fun and in retrospect, from the adults perspective, probably hilarious! The other memory Is time at the lake, with various extended families and family members present at different times. What a family! I am pretty sure I remember Gary waterskiing, though I was very young so it could have been someone else... happy memories of a patient, fun, loving "old cousin." When I was so little, that is how I thought of him! Hoping all of you find peace and comfort as you move through grief.

Love,

Leslie

I always enjoyed meeting up with Gary for the hockey pool. And the fish fry out at Dianne's. Rest easy commissioner.

The Cadieux's have such fond memories of the whole Ducharme Clan! We miss each and everyone of you🥰. The games, laughter and meals shared-we'll remember all of it and hold it close to our hearts! A neighbour is friend close by-close in heart and always close to lend a hand. Fondest farewells but we'll see you all on the other side❤️

Such a lovely tribute to Gary. I was lucky to have known all of the Ducharmes growing up, spending time with Maureen and Allan enjoying a few parties. I am sure Gary was hiding somewhere in the house! Our sincerest sympathy to you all.
