ALBERT “BERT” DUPASQUIER

February 2, 1958 – January 7, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Bert Dupasquier, at the age of 66. Bert fought his hardest until his last breath and we feel so fortunate that he was able to council us until he ultimately passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2025 at the St Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He leaves to mourn his wife of 45 years, Bev; children, Leah and James (Gillian); and grandchildren, Benjamin and Rose.

Bert also leaves to mourn two brothers, Normand (Mimmo) and Roger (Louise); and sister, Estelle (Roland). Also left to mourn are his mother in-law, Gerry; two sisters in-law, Joyce (Bruce) and Donna (Lynol); and brother in-law Garry (Jackie); along with nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.

Bert and Bev were married in May 1979. They started their life together in rural Alberta before returning home to Manitoba in 1992. Bert worked in the agriculture industry for over 40 years. They made several places their home over the years and collected many friends along the way, who became additional family members to them. Bert enjoyed curling, fishing, favourite TV shows and spending time with his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on February 1, 2025 at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s webpage.

We wish to thank the staff at the St. Boniface hospital, palliative ward for the care and love he received in his final days.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Cancer Care Manitoba, Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (CPFF), or a charity of your choice.

Bert’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I was so sorry to learn of Bert's passing. I knew him through his work for the Canadian Wheat Board when I was a reporter for the Manitoba Co-operator. Bert was always so positive, friendly and outgoing. I was impressed with his knowledge of CWB programs and policies and how well he interacted with farmers. Bert was respected and well-liked. My wife Joyce and I watched the live streaming of his service today. It was so fitting and moving. Although it must have been hard for them, Leah and James, did so well honouring their father. To them, Bev and the rest of the family, and Berts many friends, Joyce and I send condolences.

Thanks to the United Church in Meadowood for making the service available online.

To Bev and your family, I send my deepest condolences to you all. To think he had just texted me a few weeks ago. It was an honor to get to know Bert and you Bev. He was blessed to have a second chance at life as that was how we all met. He never took that blessing for granted and lived his life to the fullest with his dear family. My heart and prayers are with you all!

Sincere condolences to Bev and family on the loss of Bert. Dennis and I had the privilege of working with Bert for many years. His humour and knowledge of the grain industry was well known.. It was a pleasure to spend an evening with Bert and Bev a couple of years ago when they did their Atlantic tour and stopped in Halifax. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace.

We are so saddened by this announcement of Bert's passing. We have been friends with Bert and Bev for many years, since our children have grown up with Jimmy and Leah, in south St. Vital. We became even closer friends, through the United Church in Meadowood, with both Bert and Bev, as we all dedicated many hours to this community. Bert and I volunteered for Dragon Boat Events for Cancer Care, and Habitat for Humanity, and he was a fellow sports fan, of the Bombers and a great fisherman.

Bert is well known for his generosity of time, and willing kindness to so many friends. We know that Bert and Bev's children and grandchildren, are the results of their great parenting, and unwaivering love of family. Bert's Faith, was Real, from his youth to his modern acceptance of Bev's Church community, and he always was a positive example to his family and friends. Many folks knew his ability to be a compassionate listener. Bert, Has Thanked God, for allowing him 20 years more, dealing with Cancer and his other health issues, and that time allowed Bert to see some significant milestones within his family, and shared with the Love of his Life, Bev.

God has made a room ready for Bert in Heaven, but Bert will be late as he visits with the Angels on the way up.

Cause you all know, that is Bert! Always smiling and always making new friends, everywhere he went.

Our Prayers for Bev, Jimmy, Leah and additional family members of Bert's family and beyond. Amen.

Bert was the best . He took me in into his home no questions asked (even when questions defintely wouldn't have been out of line!) , he took me on my first fishing trip and recently he built a table and chairs for my littel girl Halle with whom he shares a birthday. The table is used daily and will never leave my home. It will stand as a great reminder to lead by example.

I was so saddened to hear about Bert's passing. I know how much he meant to his family, and I can only imagine what you are all going through right now.

We always enjoyed hearing Bert talk about his grandkids after a weekend of playing games, storytelling, and reading books. It was clear how much they were a part of his life.

Bert and his family were always active. Whether it was his annual Walleye fishing trip to Minaki, laughing and enjoying the camaraderie of his friends and family. Taking the Grandkids with his wife Bev to a Bomber game in the summer, or volunteering at the Dragon Boat races to curling with some of his lifelong friends, it was obvious how much joy these things brought him.

Please know that we at G3 are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

My cousin Bert was more like another brother to me. We are only 5 months apart and he always teased me because I was older. He was one of the best people I've ever known, a good husband father and grandfather, friend and a truly good human being. I will miss his eternal optimism, postive attidue, kindness, charitable heart and stregnth. Also we remember fishing with him and Bev and he could filet a fish and make a shore lunch better than anyone. My deepest condolences to Bev Leah Jimmy Gill and Ben & Rose. We love you Bert.

Bert was a great team builder, problem solver and mentor. Above all he was my friend. When I joined the CWB, even before my first work day, Bert and Bev took Rachel and me to Don Cherrys Bar and Grill to welcome me to the CWB family. This friendship continued even after the CWB. Bert was a grateful person who saw the positive even is adversity. At my last visit Bert expressed his gratitude for having had over 20 years since his cancer diagnosis to spend with his family and see them grow. Bert was very proud of his family and always made sure to mention them in our conversations. Bert will be very missed but will live in in all our memories. Our condolences to the entire Dupasquier family.

Memories are truly life's treasures. Of the many memories of Bert that I hold close, there is one that make my heart smile the most. Bert was instrumental in introducing me to the McMannis family; phoning a young girl who he had never met and jokingly telling her that he and the other sons-in-laws were coming to pick her up to bring her to the McMannis home, as her boyfriend did not invite her. Indeed, Bert arrived at my door with the biggest grin, and I was escorted into the family with laughter and ease. That was Bert's gift; putting people at ease. Bert, I will carry that welcoming smile in my heart always.

Bev, Leah, Jimmy and family, my heart goes out to you for your loss.

The Canadian Wheat Board Alumni Association (CWBAA) sends our deepest condolences to Bev and the Dupasquier family on the loss of our collegue and friend. Bert was an eager and active volunteer, serving as Vice President until he had to step back due to illness. Over the years, I had the privilege of working with him on various Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) tasks such as country farm meetings, trade shows, Taste of Manitoba and the Santa Claus parade. Bert was always willing to help out any way he could. He's remembered as one of the real good guys and will be greatly missed.

A standout and standup guy ! I've known Bert back in AWP days and of late, as a peer with the CWB. He was always supportive, super positive, humble and gregarious. Especially through some of the challenging tough public meetings/ trade shows we both (sometimes) worked at. There was always someting to learn from Bert. He always had your back. My condolences and prayers to his wife Bev and family. Know that he surely had a rich life. He taught us a few lessons.

I've known Bert since he and Bev moved back to Manitoba and he started at the CWB. He used to come around to my grain elevator in Oakville and try to keep me on the straight and narrow. Later we would become co-workers at the CWB but also good friends. Bert was the first to invite me over to show me how things worked at the CWB and insisted that I stay with him and Bev rather than go to a hotel. Later on, as we both continued with the transition to G3, we had ongoing contact. We had many great visits with Bert and Bev as we shared news on our families, people we knew, road trips we were planning, etc.

Through all of Bert's health issues over the years, he always maintained his positive attitude and his sense of humor. He was always upbeat and kept that big smile on his face even though I'm sure there were days when he didn't feel it. He was so proud of his family and spoke of them often.

Our condolences to Bev, Leah, Jimmy, Gillian, Ben and Rosy. He was a great guy and we will miss him.

Losing a brother like Bert is truly a painful experience. When you're the oldest of the family and you lose your youngest sibling it is even more difficult. Bert was also my godson and we really treasured this additional bond. Bert was a wonderful human being and cared deeply for those he loved (his beloved Beverley; his children Leah, and James and Gillian; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Rose; his siblings; extended family members in both the Dupasquier and McMannis families; and his great group of friends. We shall all miss his smile, his laughter, his cheerful disposition and his strength of character. You were a terrific guy, little brother. Adieu, Bert.

Bev and family,

We are so saddened to hear about Bert's passing. We are so lucky to have had you and Bert as friends and neighbours. Often times Michelle and I have commented over the years that we would have never made it through when the twins were born without the help of you and Uncle Bert as the boys affectionately called him. Bert was such a tremendous person and always eager to help and provide a wildly fabricatted story about how big the fish was that got away or how good his beloved Bombers were.... and always quick ... sometimes too quick with a comment about how bad my Riders were. We value the time that we had you as neighbors.

We are hoping that you take comfort in all of the wonderful family memories that you created over the years and the many stories from friends during this time.

We lost a good one..... the world could use a lot more people like Bert in it.

Sending hugs your way ,

Love,

Chad, Michelle, Sawyer and Zander

Andrea and I got to know Bert and Bev through our church, UCiM. Bert was very involved with the church and contributed his many talents on many occasions. Bert always had a smile on his face and a warm greeting for all he met.

I was very fortunate to be asked to curl with Bert at the St Vital curling club and enjoyed the many games and social time after.

To steal a quote from one of the team members;

"February 1st, 1:00 pm at 1111 Datoka. Its all very fitting for the number 1 guy that Bert was."

Rest In Peace our friend

We first met Bert and Bev when they arrived in Huxley, AB, early in their relationship. And what an addition they made to the community. Our first connection was at the curling rink and our friendship built from there. Even after they moved, as they often did, we kept that connection, if only online. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bev, Leah, Jimmy and all of the family. He fought the good fight.

Bert was my first cousin and after growing up in different countries, we only really got to know each other as adults. I'm so very grateful that we did! Bert was a beautiful soul with a deep appreciation for all the joys of life. He was not only my dad's nephew, he was also his true friend, confidadant and traveling companion. He was so generous with his time and made everyone in his orbit feel special. I don't have a photo to share because I lack the talent for documenting life the way that he did, but the image of him will always be on my heart. Peace cousin.
