ANDREW DUPLAK

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Andrew Duplak on February 15th, 2023 at the age of 55 years old. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Julie; children Kyle (Karlee), Tyler (Rachel) and Melanie; grandchildren Brooks and Beau; mother Jennie; siblings Brian (Kelly), Greg (Bea), and Carolyn; as well as nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Andrew was predeceased by his father, Bronislaw (“Brownie”).

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Andrew was the youngest of four children. As a youngster, he enjoyed going on adventures in the country with his dad. He and his siblings would explore abandoned barns, while Brownie sketched the scene.

Andrew was a passionate musician, and loved music all his life. From the age of 12, Andrew played in several bands; Kalyna, Deadbeats, Roller, and Happy Days, to name a few. He also enjoyed helping in any way he could when his nephews played shows with their band.

While teaching drumming lessons at the music school “Kolts”, Andrew met Julie, who had brought her son Kyle in for music lessons. They were married for 26 years, and raised 3 children together.

In 2019, Andrew became a Grandpa, and wore that title proudly. He loved both of his grandsons endlessly. Andrew and Julie loved spending time with the boys, and took them on many adventures.

Andrew was passionate about the work he did as a plumber. He enjoyed helping people and treated everyone with kindness. He was a hard worker, who took pride in a job well done. Much like his love of teaching music, Andrew loved to share his knowledge of plumbing with others.

He was an outgoing person, who could carry a conversation with anyone. His kindness and ability to make everyone feel comfortable will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

Since Andrew had such a great love of dogs, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Crescent.

Saddened to hear about Andrew's passing, may he RIP!   I had the pleasure of working with him for a number of years at Mr. Rooter and watching him perform with Kalyna & The Ambrose Brothers Band at various Zabavas over the years.  He was a wonderful person and a good friend to everyone. You will not be forgotten my friend and will be missed when we speak of you.   Prayers and condolences to the Duplak Family during this most difficult time.

I worked with Andrew back in our late teens/early 20s….he was a friend way back and we lost touch as life goes but caught up briefly last spring when he came and did some fantastic plumbing work at my place…Instead of talking about the latest party we spoke about family, work and life…it’s funny how people unexpectedly come in and out of your life….he was a good one….55 is too young especially for a good guy like Andrew - nothing but good memories…my condolences to his family.
