SHIRLEY MAY EDINGER

July 25, 1953 - August 6, 2022

Our beloved wife, mom, Nana, sister and aunt Shirley passed away on August 6, 2022 with family by her side at the age of 69 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Miles; her sons: Shawn (Candace) and Trevor (Danielle); her grandchildren: Parker, Ashton, Corbin, Addison; her siblings: Sharon (Mike), Ellen (Russ), Denis (Jan), Darrell (Diane), Brenda (Jerry), Ron (Debra). Shirley was predeceased by her brother Randy and her parents, Joan and Harry.

Shirley was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan. One of her first jobs was working at Public Press, where she met the love of her life, our dad! They lived most of their life in Fort Rouge until recently moving to St. James. During her sons’ childhood she was actively involved in their local community club, helping with dances, hockey tournaments, etc. Once her children were grown she loved to volunteer her time in the Walk for Miracles and The Teddy Bears Picnic. Many memories were made with her family while camping or staying at the cottage in Matlock. Shirley loved her Harlequin romance novels, knitting, Bingo, bowling with dad and bobbing her head while listening to music on her headphones. In 2019, she retired from a 20+ year career at Walmart where she was recognized for her strong work ethic and coworkers loved her sense of humour. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s activities and reading her novels in her retirement.

A celebration of her life will be held from 2pm-4pm on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church). In Accordance with her wishes, the family will be doing a private internment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Special thanks to Dr. Hasmatali and her nurse Jag at the Grace Hospital.

We love you Mom!

I remember when Uncle Miles and Aunty Shirley would come over to our house when I was a little girl. I remember Aunty Shirley being kind and caring. She had a great sense of humour and I remember her laugh. Although we lost touch over the years I still thought of her and the family. Rest In Peace Aunty Shirley. My condolences to the family.  Sue Hrabliuk- Lois and Don’s daughter

Shirley was a dear friend. We worked together almost  her entire time at Walmart. We were friends besides coworkers. I will remember all the great time we had with our Walmart family during many party’s. Shirley will definitely be remembered as the Sunnbuca queen.  I will miss her laughter, her kindness and her great sense of humour.  To her family my deepest condolences to all of you. She will forever be in your heart.  R.I.P.❤

I never had the pleasure to work with Shirley or get to know her but I worked many years with her son, Shawn. I feel like I know the kind of person she was because I know what a fine man her son is. I can only believe he is the person he is because of his mom's job raising him. My condolences to Shawn, Candace and all of the family. Thoughts are with you.❤️
