Nancy Edmondson

NANCY LOUISE EDMONDSON
(née PARROTT)
May 11, 1944 – September 18, 2025
It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Nancy at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Nancy leaves us to join her departed loved ones: her parents, George and Miriam Parrott; and brother Bob Parrott.
She leaves to mourn and honour her memory, daughter Brooke (Paul); sons, David (Becky) and Rob (Joyce); and grandchildren, Kate (Jordan), Alex (Cassi), Ava, Max and Allison; as well as sister-in-law Jeannette; her nieces; and many dear friends.
Nancy had a true love for life which she lived with gratitude and appreciation. She absolutely revered her parents and felt lucky to have had such kind generous people as role models. These values shaped Nancy’s attitudes and contributed to the positive energy we were all so fortunate to have experienced.
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Nancy had special memories of time spent at the family cottage at Waskesiu. She moved to Winnipeg after high school to pursue a nursing degree at the Winnipeg General Hospital. That decision would lead to a long career in different levels of healthcare in Winnipeg mostly at the HSC where she worked in many departments over the years. Her education at Winnipeg General also offered her the opportunity to meet classmates who became lifelong cherished friends, going to many reunions over the years and still getting together for regular lunches at each other’s houses to date.
Nancy had a lot of friends and it was easy to see why. Her interests were vast including interior design/décor, cooking, entertaining, travelling, bridge, learning French, gardening, golfing and art/painting. Her extensive community of friends were so inclusive and supportive of Nancy which she so appreciated. She adored every movie, lunch date, walk in the park, weekend at the cottage, art show, concert, glass of wine in the back yard, golf date, party, cross country ski with a bonfire and on and on...
Nancy loved travelling and new adventures. Hong Kong and Nanaimo were special places with family that led to trips to Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Bali, Tofino, Victoria and more. Other treasured destinations were Hawaii, Croatia, Switzerland, France, Italy, Egypt and the Danube River cruise. It would ultimately be the island of Madeira Portugal with its people, culture and landscape that captured her heart. She was lucky to spend several winters there with new friends from Canada, Portugal and the UK all part of their community that brought her so much happiness. Tuesdays volunteering pulling weeds at the English church was a revered activity as she always felt close to her parents there.
A Beautiful Soul,
Who was well loved
and will be well missed.
A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at St. Charles Country Club (100 Country Club Blvd, Winnipeg, MB).
Nancy’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I was lucky to have 31 special years with my Nana. Full of art dates, baking, golf games, mornings at her kitchen island eating imperial cheese omelettes, conversations about fashion, design, travels, language, etc, and Sunday dinners at my parent's house sitting in their backyard which was truly one of her happy places. She had the ability to find profound joy in the smallest moments often exclaiming “aren’t we lucky” regardless of where we were and what we were doing, and we were. To have so many years together laughing, creating, and enjoying each other’s company was a gift I will never take for granted. A fierce advocate for travel and experience, she championed any and all of my adventures, checking in with weekly emails sharing sentiments and stories, usually also away exploring a different pocket of the world, or spending time in her beloved Madeira. While she will be missed immensely by myself, my family and all of those who were lucky enough to meet her, there is light in knowing that she will always be remembered for her joy, zest for life, delicious cooking, love for travel and understanding of the world, and passion for a brisk “ready golf” round, amongst many other things.
Love you Nana!
Xx Kate

Love and hugs from afar to Brooke, David, and Robbie and your beautiful families. Nancy was a part of my childhood and so her passing marks the end of an era, but the memories will always stay with me. Birthday parties as toddlers, teenage gatherings, even my wedding shower at her house in River Heights. As we say here āroharoha to the whole family. And to Brooke, kia kaha my lovely friend.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of such a truly wonderful lady. She touched my life in a very special way, offering her support during some of my toughest life moments. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine care made her one of a kind. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth and the impact she had on those around her will never be forgotten. Sending love + light to Brooke and family during this most difficult time. I'm sorry to miss her celebration of life, you are all in my thoughts. ❤️

Growing up in Saskatoon, as Nancy's young cousin, I have many fond memories of visiting with her and her parents Aunt Miriam + Uncle George, both at their home and at Waskesiu Lake. It's no wonder Nancy turned out to be such a wonderful person! We last visited Nancy at her home in Winnipeg in 2019- a chance to reconnect after a number of years. Nancy + I have been friends on FB for a few years and I always looked forward to hearing of her traveling adventures. She was one of the kindest, most generous people I've ever known. Our sincere condolences to Brooke, Robbie + David.

We are sending our sincere condolences to Brooke, David ,Rob and your families for the shocking loss of your dear mother and Grandmother Nancy.
We got to know Nancy back in the 1970's up to 2014 when we retired and moved back to Toronto in 2014 where we live now. So many fond memories of her as a happy , energetic hard working person. We shared fun times as young people raising our families spending time together in River Heights and also at Lake of the Woods. Nancy was one of the gals' group called the Magnolias, inspired by that old movie "Steel Magnolias". (Strong, resourceful women who enjoyed supporting each other with various life issues. You will find several of them who have gone to heaven before you dear Nancy, so may you Rest in peace. We will miss you until we meet again there. Love from Mel and Diane

A lovely tribute. So photogenic! We knew each other through River Heights schools and community clubs. Later we worked together at HSC. And in watching this tribute I see many other connections. My deepest sympathies to Nancy's close friends and family.

This is such sad news to hear. Nancy lived life to the fullest and always shared her joy with those around her. Our river cruise will be a special memory for me. I will not be there to celebrate her life but will have a glass of wine in her honour and remember a sweet and remarkable woman. Love and hugs to Brooke and all of Nancy's family
