ROBERT "BOB" JACOB ELIAS

July 22, 1947 - April 24, 2023

Bob's family is very sad to say that he passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 24, 2023, after a short time in ICU at the Grace Hospital.

Bob is survived by Denise, his wife, of 18 years; step-children Jon-Paul and daughter-in-law, Nicky Le Blanc; Marc LeBlanc and daughter-in-law, Kathy Allen; and his greatest loves, grandchildren Maelle and Maxim Le Blanc and Chantel and Josh LeBlanc. Bob is survived by his brother Jack Elias and Family of Toronto and his sister Carol Burch and Family of Calgary.

Bob established Elias Tax Mart some 18 years ago. Bob thrived in his office. So many of his clients also became friends. Clients could always count on Bob to be available, even on weekends, especially during the busy tax season. When Bob wasn't in his office, I could find him with hammer in hand, paint on shirt, wood chips on his clothes and always, always, some type of nail, screw, bit in his jean’s pockets. And he was never without a hat! Not only did Bob find pleasure in building, but he found great pleasure in driving, especially if it was one of the two baby Thunderbirds or the 1934 Ford he owned at one time. Bob's most recent pride and joy is a 1998 Chevy C&K 1500 V8 Pickup. Sadly, Bob did not have much time behind the wheel but for the short time he had, he was happy! There was so much more to Bob's life, sports, family, volunteering and telling everyone he was going to live to 120!

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 603 Wellington Crescent (Unitarian Church).

Bob’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Denise and Elias family. I was so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. While in recent years our contact was less frequent, we shared a long term friendship which included a very special bond. On January 25, 1976, along with Bob’s brother Art and another friend, we scored a very rare eight ender in the major Manitoba Curling Association bonspiel. Bob was our skip, and with last rock he needed to make a shot with absolute precision to avoid giving up a stolen single. Because of a fall against the turn and other factors there was absolutely no margin for even a tiny variance on the line call, or weight and line execution. Bob pulled it off to perfection with by far the best shot I had ever been lucky enough to enjoy. Rest in peace my friend. You won’t be forgotten.
