JACQUELINE "JACQUIE" JEANNE MARIE ERICKSON

(née GARAND)

June 16, 1956 - December 1, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Erickson. Jacquie passed the afternoon of December 1, 2023, with her family by her side. She was 67 years old.

Jacquie is survived by her children Chantal (Derek) and Jared (Ashley), her grandchildren Adam, Aiden and Bella, her mother Gilberte Garand, her sisters Suzanne (Ron), Monique, Louise (James), her brothers Adrien (Mary), Claude (Louise) and Marc (Jacqueline), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

This wasn’t Jacquie’s first battle with cancer. She had been diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma when she was 13 years old. She successfully fought that battle. She remained cancer free until October 2022. The treatments she did receive at 13 did end up affecting her health later on in her life. She suffered a heart attack in July 2019 and heart surgery February 2020. Despite that, she did her best to stay active and enjoy life.

She retired from the Louis Riel School Division in September of 2020 after 30 years of working with the division.

In her last years of life, she enjoyed time at the lake, seeing her grand kids and family, her workout crew (The 5W’s), and the small things like a good cup of coffee or a good margarita, even if at the end, she couldn’t really enjoy those treats anymore.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba in her memory.

At this time, no service or celebration of life has been planned. Jacquie was never one to enjoy being the center of attention, and in death, she is no different.

Jacquie and our family would like to thank the nurses on the palliative care team, all the staff in the palliative care ward at St. Boniface hospital, as well as the team from MAID.

Jacquie’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My condolences to Jacquie's family. I am so saddened to learn she has passed. Jacquie, you were a pleasure to work with -  always kind and undeniably competent. You are, and will continue to be, missed.

Our condolences to Jacquie's family.  We knew her from Deighton Beach, particularly when she was our treasurer and I was secretary.  She was always very pleasant and we enjoyed knowing her.

My deepest sympathy to you all.  Jacquie lived down the hall from me.  Always enjoyed our visits when meeting coming or going.  She  always had a smile and a kind word, I will miss that.  Cherish your memories.

My condolences to Jacquie's family and the Garand family. I worked with Jacquie at the National Bank in the mid 1970's. She was a kind and wonderful person. I have many fond memories of her.
