LORNE ERICSON

June 3, 1939 - March 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorne Ericson, who left us peacefully at the age of 85, surrounded by family.

Lorne is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Arlene; stepdaughter, Sandra (Terry); granddaughters, Jordyn (Sean) and Rylyn (Ethan); great-granddaughter, Olivia; stepson, David (Deb); grandsons, Ian (Marcia) and Kyle (Stephanie); great grandsons, Scott, Jack, Shane, and Jason. Lorne was predeceased by stepson, Ron.

Lorne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Eric and Borghild and grew up in Fort Rouge spending many summers at the cottage in West Hawk Lake. Having been raised with strong Scandinavian roots, Lorne became involved in the Swedish community and eventually joined the Swedish Folk Dance group. It is in this dance group that Lorne met Arlene and eventually they married in 1982. During their time with the dance group, they both became involved with and coordinated the Swedish pavilion during Folklorama, with Lorne becoming Lord Mayor.

Lorne retired from Federal Pioneer Canada after 35 years of service giving time for him and Arlene to enjoy many holidays together. Many summers were spent at the West Hawk Lake with Jordyn and Rylyn, boating, tubing, skiing, swimming, campfires and playing video or card games.

Lorne enjoyed watching the Jets, Bombers, Moose and Goldeyes, but his favourite team to cheer for was Jordyn, Rylyn, and Olivia’s basketball teams.

We are confident that Lorne had many cherished memories of family, friends and good times. Friends of Jordyn and Rylyn, you are all exceptional for allowing “Papa” to enjoy good times around the “fire pit” and Adrian for ensuring he made it safely into the house.

Lorne will be remembered as a quiet, kind, helpful family man. A private family remembrance will be held at a future date.

Lorne’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
