MICHAEL “MIKE” EWASIUK

May 29, 1961 – February 5, 2025

On Wednesday February 5th, 2025, while holding Christine & Jessica’s hands, Mike took his last breath.

Mike is predeceased by his parents, Peter & Marion; grandparents; mother-in-law Patricia; sisters-in-law Sandy, Chris, & Heather; and brothers-in-law, Wayne & Sam.

Mike leaves to mourn his loving wife of 35 years Christine; daughter Jessica & son in law Jason; brothers-in-law, Bill (Julie) and Ken (Diane); numerous nieces & nephews, as well as three beautiful great, great nieces.

Mike was born in Rivers, MB then moved to Brandon at a young age. He completed his schooling there. It was also where he met his best friends, David & Sandy.

As a young boy, Mike spent countless hours fishing with his grandfather in Sandy Lake. In 1986 he moved to Winnipeg. While working at R & R Foods, he met his wife to be Christine. He worked at Palliser Furniture for a number of years. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Superstore on Regent Avenue Store #1506.

On June 17th, 1989 Mike married his love, Christine. Three years later his world was complete when his daughter Jessica was born. They shared a bond like no other. He loved his Winnipeg Blue Bombers & Winnipeg Jets. Having a Budweiser & bonfire was one of the many things he loved to do. Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park was his go to place to spend time with family. More recently he loved spending time with his fur-grandchildren Buttons & Rose.

On December 24, 2019 Mike was diagnosed with Glioblastoma & was given twelve to fourteen months in which to live. He showed them & bravely fought the disease for just over five years.

We would like to thank all his family, friends, Superstore family & newest best friends Mark & Michele for their love, support and food. His Palliative care team, with a special thank you to nurse Kija, who not only cared for him but for Christine & Jessica as well. Thank you to Dr. Craig Harlos and the team at Cancer Care. Thank you to Michael & the team at Never Alone Cancer Foundation. As well as Laura & the team at Slay Society Inc.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either of the two charities mentioned above.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2nd at Bronx Park Community Centre 720 Henderson Hwy.

Well fought, Mike.

We all had your back & we know you will

be watching all of our backs now.

Mike’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I've know Mike and Heather since we all lived in Argyle Courts in Brandon. Heather went to school with my sister and I went to school with Mike . We also worked together at North Hill IGA and shared the same passion for cars. We had a lot of fun hanging out when we weren't working!! Rest in peace Mike!! All the best to his family.

Andy and I met Mike and his family when we moved into the Edison.you could find him sitting on the bench with Christine by the gardens, at the pool or in the gym. I have never met anyone who had such a positive attitude and a huge fighter right to the end. There was no doubt of the love for his family. I will miss seeing him go for his walks around the Edison and having our chats.

Christine, Jessica and Jason you were truly blessed. Keep his memories close to your hearts.

I worked with Mike a long time ago, good guy to work with and hang out with. I haven't heard from him in probably 10 or more years. My condolences to his family.

As a daughter who lost her father to cancer, watching Jessica's bravery in the way she cared for her father and shared their journey and story is absolutely admireable. Jessica, I'm so proud of you, and I have zero doubt in my mind your dad is too. Mike, I wish I had the opportunity to meet you, and let you know how absolutely admirable your daughter is, and how much I valued your determination in fighting this terrible disease. you will be incredibly missed. Please keep sending Jess all of the signs
