AMBER-DAWN FARNWORTH

Our beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend Amber-Dawn passed away peacefully and surrounded by love after a brief battle with cancer on May 8, 2023.

Amber was born on a cold Winnipeg winter morning on January 31, 1978, to Sharon & Bill Farnworth and was the youngest of two daughters.

Amber loved to spend summers camping with her family at Rushing River in Ontario with family friends. Here she developed her love of nature. As she got older, she went on many adventures with her best friend and soul sister Carrie Sawatzky. They traveled together far and wide and took many beautiful photos along the way. Amber loved to reminisce about her travels and had many beautiful, framed images in her home to remind her of these times.

Amber graduated from Dakota Collegiate Institute in 1996 and went on to study the Clinic Office Assistant program at Herzing Career College where she graduated in 2007 with honours. After graduating she started her career as a Pathology Transcriptionist with Diagnostics Services Manitoba and then finally as an Administrative Assistant with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. She truly loved what she did and built friendships with many of her colleagues along the way.

Amber was caring, kind and selfless. She lit up any room she entered. She was the kind of person you wanted in your corner… always rooting for you. Amber loved animals. She volunteered for several years at a local cat shelter (Rescue Siamese) and was always “house/pet sitting” for others. Amber also loved all things history. She enjoyed immersing herself in a good book and spent countless hours researching her ancestral family tree.

She leaves behind a broken-hearted family. Left to grieve her loss are her mother Sharon Farnworth (nee Holstein), her father William (Bill) Farnworth, her sister Sherri Ducharme (nee Farnworth), her brother-in-law Steve Ducharme, her niece Zoe Ducharme and partner Jake Robertson, her nephew Evan Ducharme, and her great-niece Leah Robertson (daughter to Zoe and Jake) who was the light of her life. She also leaves behind numerous aunts/uncles/cousins and close friends and colleagues who will miss her terribly.

A celebration of life will be held 2pm on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Bardal Funeral Home (843 Sherbrook Street).

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her honour to Celiac Canada, Cancer Care Manitoba, or the local animal rescue of your choice.

Amber was not able to donate her organs, but it was something she was passionate about and had registered to do, so in her honour please consider doing the same.

We’re here for a good time, not a long time. So have a good time, the sun can’t shine every day.

I had the wonderful privilege of working with Amber at the OCME.  She was always kind, thoughtful, and giving.  Her love of animals was a delight to see and I loved to hear her stories about them. She loved her family and her friends deeply, and is missed. My condolences, she is in my thoughts.

I worked with Amber at the Medical Examiner's office for 3 years. The office could be quite a grim place given the type of material we had to work with, but Amber always came in to work in a cheerful mood and helped keep our spirits up. She loved animals, and I got the pleasure of meeting her beloved cat Bailey. My condolences to all her family, friends and colleagues. Amber will be greatly missed.

I worked with Amber at the Medical Examiner's office for the past 12 years or so. I got to know her very well and really appreciated how she persevered through some very difficult times. She also showed up to work with a smile on her face and just rolled up her sleeves and did the best she could under some trying circumstances.  We exchanged a lot of friendly banter and you know you have a good relationship with someone when you can tease each other back and forth and have a good laugh. It was all part of getting through the day sometimes. I will really miss her and I think of her every day when I pass by her office. My condolences to all of her family and close friends during this very difficult time. Gordon Holens

I had the privilege of working with Amber at the Medical Examiners Office (“OCME”) for approximately 15 years. Previously, she worked at the pathology department at HSC. The combined experience made Amber an asset to the OCME. She was known in the office and outside agencies as the person to consult if you had any questions. Amber showed kindness and respect to all she encountered, both in person and on the phone. Her compassion for animals was very evident as she loved pet sitting. I cherished the time I worked with Amber and miss her. ❤❤

I worked with Amber several years ago when we were both in retail. She had the best laugh. We always got along so well and tried to keep in touch over the years, thanks to Facebook. She will be missed by all who knew her. A beautiful person inside and out. Rest in peace dear Amber. ❤

I grew up across the street from Amber. We spent many many days playing Barbies, Charmkins, swimming and playing countless games of tag, hide and seek and skipping. When I remember the Woodford Days Amber was a big part of those memories. Thinking of Sharon, Bill, and Sherri and all her friends and family during this time. ❤❤

Amber was a family friend for many years. She was great at planning trips, looking for great cabins to rent and places to visit. she was looking forward To her upcoming road trip with Carrie to Kelowna with stops to see the dinosaurs in Alberta. I was surprised when I found out that she also fell asleep to watching forensic files same as me. We also enjoyed the family histories. Our entire family will miss her immensely and she left a void that will never be filled. Sincere condolences to her parents, sister and her entire family and her many friends. We will miss you Ambie. ❤❤❤❤❤

I worked with Amber at the Chief Medical Examiner's Office and her cheery smiles brightened our day as she greeted us upon entering the office. The world is less due to the passing of a gentle and lovely person. My heart goes out to her family and friends both human and animal. ❤

I can hear Ambers beautiful laugh. Her time was so short, and she deserved much more. I won’t forget this painful lesson she leaves us with. See you again ❤

Amber was such a happy person with a kind heart. I worked with her for over 11 years at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. She always made me laugh.  I can still hear her saying “dude” every time something made no sense to us and we would laugh, which was often. She would always step up to help without complaint.  She was also my pet sitter for years and my pets adored her. Amber is a great loss. My heart goes out to her family.  ❤😺

so sorry to see this.  I worked with Amber at the Medical Examiners Office.  Since we both lived in St. Vital I drove her home from time to time.  She was a “cat-sitter” for me when I travelled.  My condolences to her family and friends. She was a lovely person.
