CAMILLO FELICIONI

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Camillo Felicioni, who passed away on May 29, 2018 at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family at his bedside, in his home, as he wished.

Camillo is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nina; children Luciano (Diane), Roberto (Danice), Lorena (Jeff), Mauro; grandchildren Corrina (Darcy), Daniel, Sharron, Maxx; great-grandchildren Andrew and Dylan; as well as many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and Italy. He is also survived by his older sister, Santina, in Milan, Italy. Camillo is predeceased by his parents, Giovita and Carmella; brothers Domenico, Massimo and Eugenio.

Camillo was born on January 2, 1934 in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy. After marrying Nina on July 5, 1956, in Giulianova, Italy, they both moved into Camillo’s mother’s home, with dad going back to his fishing and working the fields.

In 1960, Camillo, Nina and their two small children moved to Canada for a better life and settled in Winnipeg with Nina’s brother Luigi and Anna Cistarelli on Robinson Avenue. From there they all moved into a modest little house on Manitoba Avenue. In 1962 they bought a duplex they shared with Luigi.

They moved from the duplex in 1961 each purchasing the homes they currently live in as they have for the last 47 years.

Camillo started working in Winnipeg at the CNR, unloading boxcars, where he started learning to speak English. From there he went into heavy construction with multiple contractors. He did everything from digging out tunnels for sewers, house connections, asphalt road paving, concrete paving, blasting dynamite. Camillo could tell you where the sewers were located, what size and whether they were combination or storm.

For a period of time in the late 60’s, dad also worked in Gillam, MB. He would also cut hair and shave fellow workers and locals at night.

Dad and mom were parents twice in their life. The first time was with Luciano and Roberto. Then ten years later with Lorena and Mauro. It was like learning parenting all over again.

In 1968, dad decided to go back to Italy for a five month vacation with his wife, two sons and also his ’66 Chevy Impala by ship.

Since then dad’s family grew and his sons and daughters had children of their own.

Dad had many, many friends in Winnipeg he met over the years and family back in Giulianova, Italy.

Dad retired at 59 years, and really started to enjoy life. He went to Italy numerous times to celebrate weddings and anniversaries, the last time being for his own 60th with all is family and friends.

Dad went to Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Belgium, Vancouver, Hamilton, Toronto, New York, Las Vegas, countless trips to casinos in the US. The Club Regent Casino was very popular with him as well.

Dad always liked to have a good time and loved to have friends over to enjoy that time together with food, drinks and song.

If dad got a call for help from any of us, he would be there with a helping hand. He was always willing to help with tiling, painting, roofing, plumbing, electrical, windows, garages, automotive, concrete, and almost anything else.

Dads passions were watching wrestling, the jets, fishing, hunting, gardening, working on his cars, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and of course afternoon napping. He was known for barbecuing well done, making wine, taking pictures, and making videos. Dad loved the beach, every summer weekend was beach day, rain or shine it was off to the beach with friends and family. There would be 4-5 cars full.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue with the Reverend Father Sam Argenziano celebrant. Condolences will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum at Assumption Cemetery.

Camillo will forever be missed but not forgotten.
