LLEWELLYN LLOYD FISHER

December 13, 1946 - August 28, 2023

On August 28, 2023, Lloyd passed away peacefully at Grace Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Janice, (his “ROCK”). It was impossible for Llloyd to express what Janice’s love, devotion and support meant to him over the years.

Also surviving Lloyd are his brother Robert (Bob) Fisher and wife Phyllis of Edmonton, AB; Don and Cheryl Hedley of Winnipeg; many beloved nieces and nephews across MB, AB, BC and ONT; and very dear, longtime friends Sandra and Ken Kafka.

A heartfelt thank you to special friend Val Rosentreter, whose love and caring has been a great comfort to Janice and Lloyd.

Lloyd was a proud member of the Winnipeg Police Service for 30 years. He was honoured to serve with so many fine men and women during his career.

Much thanks to the professional and caring staff at Palliative care home program, Riverview Palliative care, and Grace Hospice.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date. No formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the charity of your choice.

Times like this, it’s hard to describe someone in just a few words when they’ve been part of your life for so long. LLoyd, was our cousin , but we always called him Uncle Lloyd when we were small. He never spoke too much, But he would always watch everyone. He would throw his humourous comments in at the right time and laugh along with everyone else. We are so thankful we were able to see him in his last days. He will be missed. On behalf of us “kids “ Our condolences and sympathies to Jan as well as all family members. Love you guys ❤

Lloyd was my patrol sergeant in district 6.  If you were the odd one out, you had to work with Fish.  He always made you drive.  And he always had a comment about your driving.  Don’t drive so fast!  Why are you driving so fast? Stop driving so fast!  It was a pleasure to have worked with him.  My condolences to his family.  Rest in peace Fish.

When I joined the WPD back in 1972 I was fortunate enough to be placed on the same shift as Lloyd.  We worked together on many occasions and Lloyd was an exemplary officer with a tremendous sense of humour.  You will certainly be missed Brother by all that had the pleasure to work with you.  RIP my Friend and sincere condolences to Lloyd’s Family & Friends.

My Uncle Lloyd was a man with a huge heart. He was quiet, but a great listener with quick wit. I have deep respect for the work he did with the Winnipeg Police Service.  I loved his stories and how he remembered things about our lives so well. I will miss him greatly. May he now rest in peace.

One of my favourite things about Lloyd was how he would be so quiet then pipe in with an insightful comment or funny story. I will miss him so much and family events won't be the same without him. May he rest in peace. ❤

It’s taken a bit of time before Don and I could write this. We will miss this very good man. We are proud he was our brother.  His crossword skills were epic and he loved his mystery/spy/intrigue/ adventure books.  Even though we will miss him, it’s a kindness that Lloyd is now at peace. Rest well brother.
