Nicole Fortier

Obituary Photo

NICOLE MICHELINE FORTIER

November 27, 1978 - September 6, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Nicole Fortier announces her untimely passing at the age of 46 in the city of Winnipeg.

Nicole had faced many challenges during her short lifetime but she never let anything hold her back. When her life became unmanageable, she moved to Moosomin, Sask., to make changes to her life. There she gave birth to Neige in 2014. She then went on to attend adult education where she completed her grade 12 and graduated. We were all so proud of her and more importantly, she was proud of herself. She eventually moved back to Winnipeg and furthered her education by attending the child and youth care program (CYC) at Red River College through Ndinawe.

She got a job working with young runaway teens. Nicole really enjoyed that job and felt she made a difference in some of the girls’ lives.

Nicole was always willing to help anyone that she could, sometimes it was with food or clothing and sometimes just to lend an ear. Nicole loved music and dancing, and we can’t forget about bingo. She loved her many bingo nights with Mom.

Nicole is survived by her children, Jayla, Nicholas, Ivory, and Neige; mother Bev (Gary); father Jacques Fortier; brothers, Jaye and Michael; and sister Angele.

She also leaves to mourn her grandmother, Jean Land; and aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins.

Nicole was predeceased by her sister, Danielle Trudeau and her grandpa John Land.

Please join us for Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at 603 Wellington Crescent.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take extra time with your children and keep them close to your heart.

No farewell words were spoken,

No time to say goodbye.

You were gone before we knew it,

And only God knows why.

I have so many memories with Nicole. I can't pick just one. But the one I hold dear is us getting plucked out of school by the cops over a hot dog. Some girl threw a hotdogs at her and she yelled for me to "Get em" and you can imagine the rest. The cops laughed at us when we said how the fight with girls from a rival school happened. My mom was not impressed but she laughed too. She loved Nicole too. I'll miss you pitbull. I loved you for over 30 years. R.I.P my lifelong friend.

I am so proud of my cousin Nicole for her turn around, helping troubled youths is a service in need and she stepped up to help kids she knew needed a second chance despite her own challanges.

She has been taken far too soon and my heart goes out to my Aunty Bev and the rest of our family.

May she rest in peace
