DENNIS THOMAS FOWLER

September 30 1954 - August 9, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Dennis passed away peacefully on August 9, 2022 in the palliative care unit on (3E) at the Riverview Heath Centre.

Dennis was predeceased by his father Thomas Fowler, mother Verna Fowler , and his brother Rick Fowler.

Left to cherish his spirit and his memories are, his Angel on Earth, Irene, his daughter Melanie Fowler , his brother, Doug Fowler  and his sister Elaine Vinet (Rod Bluhm), His nieces and nephews, Collin Fowler, Ashley Fowler , Dylan Vinet, Jodi Vinet and numerous relatives and friends across Manitoba and and western Canada.

Dennis was born in The Pas, MB, at a young age he moved to Winnipeg. He grew up in Windsor Park - this is where he acquired his life-long friends and love of music.

Dennis lived life, his terms, his way, with open arms and a big heart - he had the never give up attitude.

Dennis was always seen with an infectious smile, a guitar in hand - entertaining at family gatherings, Folk Fest campground, busking around town - even busking across western Canada.

Dennis was a true entertainer - he brought a smile to everyone's face and left them wanting more - he had a way of touching everyone’s soul while giving away a piece of his.

He will be remembered and missed by many.

Dennis’s daughter Melanie , Munch, which he fondly called her,  was the apple of his eye. He mentioned in his last days that there was so much more he wanted to share with her.

In the later part of Dennis’s life he reconnected with a past love, Irene  - he found solace as they spent their time in Lac du bonnet playing guitar together and fishing the day away.

We would like to thank the the doctors, nurses and aids on 3E at the Riverview Health Centre for their exceptional care through Dennis’s last month of life.

Per Dennis wishes no formal funeral service will be held, instead, his wish was to gather, lift a glass to him and celebrate his life.

Forever in our hearts.

My condolences to Dennis's family. I grew up in Winsor Park and Dennis's brother Rick was one of my best friends from elementary school to high school. So I knew Dennis very well too. We hung out at times and we were all part of a big circle of friends who went on the same camping trips and parties. I left for BC in 1979 but ran into Dennis occasionally and it was always great to see his big smile and hear him play Fire on Mountain one more time! Rest In Peace brother

My condolences to all of Dennis’s family and friends.   I met Dennis many years ago through my late brother Tom Graham.  Dennis and Tom were lifelong friends, sharing many adventures throughout their lives.   Very sorry to hear of his passing.  Every conversation I had with Dennis   he would always talk about Melanie..  He was so very proud of her. Condolences to Elaine,Doug and Melanie. As children in The Pas growing up there were many happy memories with my cousins. As we grew older we lost touch raising our own families.Just today I saw Dennis’ fb profile and was about to friend him.but for some reason I clicked on Melanies profile first. That is when I saw this obituary. To say I was saddened and shocked is an understatement. RIP Dennis

A beautiful tribute for a beautiful spirit. I was lucky enough to spend time around campfires listening to Dennis play and sing and know he’s up there tearing it up. My deepest condolences to the family and many friends he met along the way. RIP Dennis

Almost 40 years ago Dennis and I were friends.  Memories include Christmas dinner at his parents, guitar, music, laughter, attending my 1st AA new years dance.  I still have a few pictures of back in the day.  Rest easy Dennis.  My condolences to your family.

Sorry to hear of Dennis passing. Maureen and myself will always remember when we drove from Hartney to Deloraine to see him play and enjoy his music. That must have been 40 years ago.  Your cousin Maureen and husband George

I have known Dennis since we were in high school. He was a good friend of my husband Jim who passed away in 1994. I hadn't seen Dennis since then and recently found out he was a good friend of my brother-in-law Rob, Jim's younger brother. Rob died last year, and at his celebration of life I saw Dennis again after all that time. We hugged like no time had passed and caught up with our lives. He met my daughter Rachel whom he had heard so much about and proudly told me about his daughter Melanie. He was a kind and caring man and I am so happy I was able to see him again. My condolences to his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest peacefully Dennis. You deserve it. ❤

A good person gone far to soon. The tribute song was so apropriate. Thoughts are with Dennis' family  Doug and Elaine's family. As kids I would spend time at the Fowler home. Even back then Dennis would be the entertainer and make you laugh. Dennis RIP I know you and Rick will be playing music together and having lots of laughs. Grant Goddard (cousin)

My deepest condolences to Denis family and friends. The words contained in the obituary reflect the Denis I remember as a kid growing up in Windsor Park. Denis was a character, a good musician and never complained about what life may have thrown at him. He was a good man and will be missed.

Such a lovely tribute! But I am very sad to hear of Dennis passing! When, I think of Folk Fest, I think of Dennis; so many of my memories from the mid-80's and the 90's include Dennis singing and playing guitar especially around a campfire. Can't You See was my favorite! My deepest condolences!
