BARBARA FRANCOIS
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Barbara Francois (née Little) who left us peacefully on Sunday, April 6th, 2025 at the age of 75.
Barbara spent her formative years in the town of McCreary, where her love for family and community blossomed. She was a devoted mother, loving spouse, cherished grandmother, and a beloved sister.
She is predeceased by her father Jack; her mother Irene; and her sisters, Lynn and Carol. She is survived by her husband Ron, who stood by her side through life’s many adventures. Together they raised 3 wonderful children: Krista (Chris), Nadine, and Matthew, who carry forward her spirit and values. Barbara also lives on through her treasured grandchildren, Logan, Mason, and Griffin, who brought her immense joy and pride. She leaves behind her siblings, Lance, Pam, and Richard as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
After moving to Winnipeg to attend United College, Barbara met Ron and together they built a warm and nurturing home filled with love and laughter. Barbara’s career in advertising and retail management showcased her creativity and keen attention to detail. Her strength in planning and her ability to connect with others, made her a respected figure in her field.
Barbara will be remembered for her warmth and kindness. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

I'm so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. She has been a warm and welcoming freind for much of my life. When Barb first moved to Winnipeg to go to United College, she stayed with my mom to whom she she brought much fun and joy. Barb and Ron later settled in the same neighbourhood as my mom, and remained cherished freinds of our whole family. My heart goes out to Ron and their family, and to Barb's siblings Lance, Pam and Richard.

I am so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. My heart breaks for you, Ron, your children and grandchildren, and the Little family.
I first met Barb in Grade 1 and we remained life long friends.
I will forever treasure the special occasions we shared throughout the years, and especially cherish our last visit in December. Despite her struggles, Barb was Barb, and we spent a wonderful afternoon reminiscing about growing up in McCreary.
Barb, you were an amazing lady and I will miss you, my friend.

We were so saddened to hear about Barb's passing. She was the loving sister-in-law who showed her caring heart to me going back to when I was a teenager newly arrived to Canada to just recently when I saw her before Christmas. Particularly, I cherish the times her and Ron visited me in Ottawa. It was an important time for me seeing them, a truly fond memory.
Barb was always such a joy to converse with. She was so inquisitive and possessed a sharp mind, always ready to discuss current events with insightful opinions. One of her special qualities was her ability to ask thoughtful questions that truly made you think.
We especially cherished the time spent with you all before Christmas. It was the the first time Ann met the family in Winnipeg. It was such a blessing to have learned even more about Barb, particularly her singing history. She clearly had a passion for music, the arts and a vibrant life.
Barb will be deeply missed by many people, touching the lives of those within her community. Her intelligence, curiosity and genuine interest in others made her a truly special person.
We loved her and will miss her dearly. Our thoughts are with you and we extent our love and support.

I was fortunate to be in the same class as Barb from Grade 1 to 12 and still feel closely connected all these years later.
In flipping through our 1967 yearbook this morning, I was again reminded of the many wonderful characters, fond memories, trials and occassional tribulations that went along with growing up in a wee rural village. Barb is a large part of these fond memories.
Barb had an innate sense of grace, a kind and caring personality, and a magical charisma that immediately put one at ease no matter who or where you were, or what crazy thing you just said or did.
She was alway busy with someone or doing something - whether dreaming about a story to write or a song to sing while doing homework, volunteering for student council activities, chatting to other kids in school and making them feel included, helping dad & mom out in the pharmacy, or participating in a local talent show or drama festival at the community centre.
Barb was a very creative writer and storyteller, and you could hear a pin drop whenever she got up to speak in class. Barb also had a wonderful singing voice and my recollection is that the size of the United Church congregation quadrupled when she joined the choir.
In a nutshell, Barb made you want to be a better person and the world a better place..
My sincere condolences to all the family, Barb will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Barb's passing. We were school mates fro Grade one on and had many a play date. I was always in awe of her big house and big family as I was an only child of a single mother. I remember her singing as she had the most beautiful voice. She was a kind soul to all and always found the best in everyone and everything
I send my deepest condolenses to the Francois and Little families

A lady, of immense courage and strength. The first time I met Barbara in 1985. She had three beautiful little children in the car, waiting for Ron outside Block Brothers. Her welcoming smile and kind enquiry of my recent arrival to Winnipeg gave me comfort.
An inspiration in how she used her strength of will, to enjoy every moment she could with her family while she was able. You're a Star Barbara, I'm so very sorry we didn't meet more often and go for that lunch. I will look for you in the evening sky.

Thank you for sharing Nadine, a beautiful tribute to a wonderful and caring lady. Ron, Nadine, Krista (family) and Matt, my thoughts are with you all, still processing it tbh, I have a lot to thank Barb for, my first car, my first job, she opened her home and helped me establish in Winnipeg, a theme repeated on the beautiful messages above. What will stick with me most though, a toughness that belied her quite nature, when she believd in something she stuck to her guns and could quite easily convince you in her own way to look at things through another lense. strong willed. intelligent and beautiful through and through, she was one of kind, RIP Barbara x

I first met Barb when my family moved into McCreary from our family farm when we were in grade eight. I was very shy and overwhelmed to be in a school classroom of 30 students after being in a one room school of a total of 25 children. Barb was the first kind person who approached me and welcomed me to this new life. I have loved her and admired her ever since. She will be so missed. My condolences to all those who love her.

So sadden to hear the passing of Barb. Sincere condolences to her family and friends. My cherished memory of Barb is her wedding day in McCreary. She was the most beautiful bride I had even seen. She wore a long cape over her dress. It had a hood with what looked like fur on it. She was stunning and carried herself so elegantly! Rest in Peace Barb ..... heaven has certainly gained a beautiful angel. ❤️

One of the most Courageous women we know to face an aggressive beastly disease. Barbara you see, is an elegantly dressed slender delicate person with a Lions heart. I met her first in the early 80's, she was in her car, waiting for Ron, outside Block Bros. with her three small beautiful children. Over the years our lives touched, we feel like extended family. Barbara has been an inspiration. Farewell Barbara, we shall always remember you.

My sincere condolences to,the Francois and Little families. Having grown up in McCreary, I have many treasured memories of my friendship with Barb - birthday parties, Glee Club, church groups and many more. One that stands out occurred one summer when we were at Camp Wannacumbac at Clear Lake. On the last day when we were to,go home, we were the last ones to be picked up. When our mothers finally arrived we both started crying! Barb will be missed by so many!

Beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady , Barb will be missed. I remember fondly riding bikes over to the Northshore in clear lake and Barb cursing us for riding too fast , But with all her migth she rode hard and kept up ! Many years later we still laughed with Barb about that bike ride and I am not sure she ever forgave us for pushing her that hard ! She loved life and every thing it threw at her ! We will miss her beautiful smile .

Barb was a lifelong best friend to me. We met in Grade 3 when my family moved to McCreary and, although I moved away after Grade 7, we maintained our close friendship until her passing. Barb was a beautiful individual. She was kind, thoughtful, generous, loving and loyal. And she was always fun to be around. I will miss her terribly but will cherish the many fond memories I have of her. My sincere condolences to Ron, Krista and her family, Nadine and Matthew; and to Lance, Pam and Richard. I have no doubt she will live on in your hearts.

Auntie Barbara was a wonderful woman. One memory that sticks in my head a lot is from a family lunch one summer at Basil's (I think? That location has been so many different restaurants!) and there was a garnish on the plate that we didn't recognize, so she and I decided they must be kumquats, which we giggled about because we thought it was just a really fun word to say! Spoiler alert: they weren't kumquats, they were ground cherries. I grew some in my garden last summer and I laughed thinking about that lunch every time I saw them. ❤️ Uncle Ron, Krista + fam, Nadine and Matthew I'm thinking of you and so sorry for your loss. She will be missed.
