Audrey Frers
AUDREY JOAN FRERS
(née KORT)
1937 - 2024
Audrey Joan Frers (née Kort) passed peacefully in her sleep and went to be with her Lord on August 8th, 2024, with her loving husband at her side. She was 87 years old.
Audrey worked hard her entire adult life in retail, but still managed to be there for her husband and two daughters, offering support and a listening ear. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother. Audrey had a unique and playful sense of humor and loved to joke and laugh, sometimes even at herself. She was very interested in fashion and had impeccable taste. After retiring, she passed the time doing word search puzzles, reading true crime novels, and doting on her 5 grandchildren. She had a passion for baseball and never missed her favorite team, the Blue Jays, on television. She will be deeply cherished and greatly missed by her family.
Audrey is predeceased by both her parents, Arnold and Lilian Kort; and her older sister Joyce Zilkie. She left behind her devoted husband of 64 years, Werner Frers; her two daughters, Melinda Sonnenberg and Joanne Zada; her five grandchildren, Haylee and Connor Sonnenberg, Ceren, Adem, and Jon Zada; her younger sister Myra Robinson; younger brother Brian Kort and wife Heather; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Audrey’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

I remember Auntie Audrey as the smiling fashionista in our family, I used to love going to visit her at Ricki's at Grant Park plaza, she was so elegant and professional. I spent many sleepovers at their house with Melinda and Joanne, we put on shows, composed songs and Auntie Audrey was always quick to supply us with snacks or a peek in her closet. My condolences and love to Melinda, Joanne and Uncle Werner - Sherilyn Lamoureux/ niece.

Since Audrey and I were the same age we also spent fun times together. We had a stayover at the farm and in turn I stayed at her house on Alexander and enjoyed fun with her in her neighbourood as we attended Vacation Bible school together. She was a fun person to be with. We were cousins.

My dear sister. We were miles apart but every visit there was special for me. Audrey had a very infectious smile. While I was still in school, on her pay days she would buy me things while shopping and then we would always end up for supper at The Chocolate Shop for breaded veal cutlets. I have happy memories of our playing badminton at Assiniboine Park. On my visits there she always gave me clothes and jewellery. she was such a generous person. Rest in peace Audrey.

Dear Werner, Melinda & Joanne! Please accept our deepest sympathy in the passing of your dear wife and mother! I remember Audrey as a (((wonderful))) mother to her precious girls!! I loved her sense of humour and can still 'hear' her contagious laughter! May sweet memories bring you comfort as you adjust to your loss!

My sister was very generous to me. She made sure I had money to go to the picture shows to watch Lash Larue, Rocky Lane, Whip Wilson to name a few at the Bijou theatre. She was a Tomboy and bodyguard to me. The Dugan brothers would pick on me until one day outside our house on Alexander she saw that happening. She ran out of the house and got a hold of Dickie Dugan and flipped him over her shoulder. They never bothered me again.
