She was predeceased by her parents, Terry and Edith; brother Terry; Aunty Dode and Uncle Jim; in-laws, Leslie and Mary Wade; sister-in-law Agnes and niece Michele. She leaves to mourn her loss, husband of 21 years, Ben; children, Bruce (Lisa), Leslie (John) and Jim (Charlene); sister Laurie (John); grandchildren, Kelsey (Tristan), Crystal, James (Brynn) and Sydney as well as a great-grandson Noah; brother-in-law Jack Milne of Springhill, FL, niece Carla and nephew Craig (Laura). From the Friesen family: Glenn (Marilyn), Fritz (Julie), Greg (Dale), Gord (Teresa) plus six grandchildren and their spouses and nine great-grandchildren.
Pat was born December 2, 1938, and raised in Winnipeg, attending Laura Secord and Gordon Bell schools. After graduation she worked for the Royal Bank. After she had her children and they were off to school she began working for Assiniboine Credit Union then moved to Manitoba Pool Elevators. Pat retired from MPE in 1998.
Pat had an infectious smile loved by all she met. She also had a love for dogs, with one at her side for all of her life.
She even managed to have her special Yodels (aka Rainbow dog) with her at Deer Lodge.
Pat had many pastimes over the years including knitting, reading, macrame, stock car racing, aquasize and her daily walks.
In 2001 Pat and Ben met on their daily walks while living in Fort Garry and love blossomed. Mom’s dream was to travel after she retired so travel she did. Pat and Ben travelled the world, setting foot on every continent and even sailed past Antarctica. Once their travelling had stopped mom enjoyed much time at the family cottage at Victoria Beach, a place dear to her heart, going there throughout her life.
Pat spent her last few years at Deer Lodge making many new friends during her stay. Pat’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers of Deer Lodge especially on lodge 7W for their kind, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of these charities: Deer Lodge Foundation, Courtyard Renewal Project, Alzheimer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada or Winnipeg Humane Society.
A memorial service will follow at a later date.
Pat's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
