CAROLYN "KAREN" GALBRAITH (NEE OLENICK)

(née OLENICK)

September 20, 1971 – November 18, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Carolyn (Karen) Galbraith on November 18, 2019 at the age of 48.

Karen is survived by her husband Michael, and her three kids: Kendra, Rylan and Jayden. Karen will be lovingly remembered by parents: Mary Olenick, Reginald and Laurie Olenick; mother-in-law & father in-law Joan and Nelson Tanner, sisters: Tracy (Patrick) Gross and their children Laura, Kristen, Alex, Hope, Raegan, Sydney, and Jack; Tricia (Allan) Shapiro and son Josh (Adelle) and Niki (Richard) Hardick and their children (Ashleigh, Jordan and Josh) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Karen met Michael in 1993 and were later married in 1997. Soon after they were married, Karen gave birth to her first child, Kendra, in 1999 and then followed her other two children, Rylan and Jayden, born in 2001, 2002. Karen’s life revolved around her children. Whether it was waking up at 5:00 am to take her eldest daughter to cheer competition or sitting on the sidelines cheering at her son’s football games or helping her youngest daughter with her bruises after a rough rugby game she was an ever-present and supportive mother.

Karen was a fun loving, easy going woman. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, her husband Mike, and her dog Jade. She always had a smile on her face and was willing to lend a helping hand.

She will forever be remembered and remain in our hearts.

A private interment was held on November 25, 2019 in Brandon, Manitoba at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or to a charity of your choice.

Condolences to all of Karen’s  family.  I had the pleasure of being Carolyn’s babysitter for many of the early years of her life.  I am saddened to learn her time with those she loved so much has been cut short. The video tribute was a walk down memory lane and then to see her as a mom was so heart warming and wrenching at the same time.  My deepest condolences, Noreen McCallum

Karen made the world a better place with her smile, her sense of humour, her generosity and willingness to help out.  You couldn't ask for a better friend.  She is sadly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. She was way too young to leave them so suddenly.
