JOSEPH PHILIP ELMER GALLANT

August 11, 1945 - August 24, 2021

Sadly, on Tuesday August 24, 2021, Joseph Gallant passed away in the Grace General Hospital at the age of 76.

Joseph was born in Summerside PEI on August 11, 1945, the son of the late Phillip "Zip" and Mildred (Blanchard) Gallant. He was predeceased by his wife Sharon Gallant; sisters Sylvia (Bud) Roach, and Donna Gallant; and brother-in-law Leo Keough .  He will be sadly missed by daughters, Kathy and Kim (Jan); grandsons, Philip and Ryan; granddaughter Sherrisa; sisters Marlene Currie and Cheryl (Lloyd) Waite; brothers, Gary (Diane) and Wyman Gallant; girlfriend Mariette (Lamy); and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Joseph (aka Phil) had served in the Army from 1962-1969 where he also made many friends; Phil, Ian and Ralph to name just a few.  He retired from Canada Post where he had worked for 34 years.

He was not a man of many words in his older years but was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.  No words can describe the love and gratitude we have for him.

Joseph’s ashes will be brought home to Summerside, PEI as per his wishes.

“You will always be in our hearts Dad.

We miss and love you.

Say “Hi” to mom for us”

So sad to hear of Phil's passing. I worked with Phil at Canada Post for many years. Every morning we would play cribbage before heading out on our routes. Phil was the comic in our midst and always had something to say. Witty or not!! He was a dear friend and will be missed. Bye Phil    RIP.                                             Barry Einarson

I worked with Phil at the Moray depot - while I was not in the immediate vicinity of his sortation case, EVERY morning someone would call out, “Bye Phil!” as he was usually the first letter carrier out the door!  My sincere condolences to all his family.

I find it really sad that it isn't until they pass away that you find out that they lived so close to you and you never got to visit. Phil lived only an hour away. Rest in peace and may God be with you. Julien Chartier. 28 platoon ATC.
