MICHELE ANITA GAUTHIER

July 18, 1964 – August 6, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce that  Michele Anita Gauthier, aged 62, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 6, 2026.

Michele leaves behind her loving partner, Kevin Harder; her daughters, Mandie (Glen) and Serena (Rene); her five cherished grandchildren, Brooke, Dallas, Athan, Caspian, and Jace; her brothers, Shaun and Marcel; as well as her nieces, nephew, many friends, and numerous extended family members, all of whom will treasure her memory.

Michele was born on July 18, 1964 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to her late parents, Lonia and Roger Gauthier. She was the eldest of three children and attended Nelson McIntyre Collegiate.

She welcomed her two beloved daughters on June 22, 1983, and December 2, 1986. Her daughters remained one of the most important parts of her life and were a constant source of pride and love.

Michele later found love with Kevin Harder, which all started by asking to borrow a rake while trying to build a firepit with her daughter. Together they shared 20+ years of life, laughter, and adventure, eventually making their home in Edmonton, Alberta.

Michele loved the outdoors and spent countless hours gardening, travelling, and making memories with her family and with Kevin. She frequently visited Jasper, which she lovingly referred to as "her happy place", and took great joy in sharing it with those she loved. One of her most treasured adventures was a trip to Costa Rica with Kevin in 2012, a journey she often reflected on with fondness.

She was a strong, determined woman who knew her worth. Her laughter could be heard across a room, and she never allowed herself or others to be pushed around. Michele loved fiercely and devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she cared about, especially her grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.

She stood up for what she believed was right and always found the strength to put on a brave face for those she loved, even during her own struggles.

The impact Michele had on the lives of her family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know her is impossible to measure. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she's touched, and she will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 28 at 2pm, located at 603 WELLINGTON CRESCENT & ACADEMY ROAD - UNITARIAN FACILITY.

Michele would want her life and memories to be celebrated with joy and laughter rather than tears. All who knew and loved her are invited to gather at the Marion after the celebration, for a toast to a life lived with passion, loyalty, fierce love, and countless cherished memories.

Michelle I wish I was able to see you more these last years. You meant a lot to me we were like a second mom you let me live there when I needed somewhere to stay you were always there to listen to us when we had a problem, and definitely would put us in place when we were getting out of line lol. I'm gonna miss you, rest in peace my friend😢 ❤️

So sad to hear about your Mom, Mandie and Serena. It was a shock to us all when we got the news that she passed away. Last time I saw her was at Gisele's for a BBQ a couple years ago. She loved coming out to see the family. She made sure got to see everyone she could. Going to miss her whit and laughter. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

The last time we chatted was right after my surgery. You called me one tough bitch, I said...I learnt from the best.

You will be missed.

Mitch, as we called you. I remember the times at happyland pool. Smoking in the corner. Heading thru the park back to your place deciding what to do. I would have one of your dad's Club beer. You had your rye and Pepsi NOT COKE. Usually there was a party. And as we got older there was the B and Marion. Not quite legal but no one cared. They made good money off our crew. We lost touch and I would see you when you came to town to see your beautiful girls. Meet up at Marion, we would pick up where we left off years earlier. Fly with the angels. I know a lot of people up there. You will be in good hands. My condolences to Mandie. Serena and your families. Never fear mama bear Michelle will watch over all of you. Rest in peace my friend 🧡

Michele and I met in Junior High (QE). We were close friends along with Diane, & Louise. We all went to the same schools and through the years we experienced our "coming of age" phases. Together we all learned about friendship, first loves, and heartaches. We all spent endless hours in bedrooms decorated with pull-out posters from magazines like Tiger Beat. Together, we listened to cassette tapes, made mixtapes for one another, we drank beer through a straw (Michelle said we would get drunk quicker). Sometimes arguments would happen with all of us and we were no longer friends for about a week. So many memories made, having Michele as a friend was a wonderful time in my life. I will never forget her and will always cherish the times we had together. Fly high my friend. We will meet again.

Cindy (Crammit).

O the memories time goes by things change go in different direction we lost touch hookup again both of us having ours girls again we go in different directions well this last time we hookup it was just meant to be omg the laughs we shared I'm sure she'd agree that we laughed so hard the tears rolled down our leggs we had afew heart to hearts and endless hour long conversation when Clifford let me know Mitch got her wings I felt as though I hit a brick wall that took the breath out of me I thought this isn't true I'm not done with her yet the void I felt was like none other she wasn't well and she was fighting everyday to see her like that broke my heart I was fortunate to be able to spend time with her and get to know Kevin she said their door was always open for me

One last story we were talking one night and she mentioned she fell and had to crawl I asked her if she got rug burn on her nipples!!! That was one of the times we laughed till the tears rolled down our legs! I miss you my friend I know you hear me when I talk to you love you till we meet again X
