LYNN GEISLER

August 11, 1951 – October 17, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Lynn Geisler (née Richter), a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, announces her passing on October 17, 2025. Lynn passed surrounded by her family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Lynn touched the lives of many and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Michelle (Jason) Broussard, Kirsten Blackmon, and Elliot Geisler; her precious grandbabies, Logan, Everly, and Noah; mother Lorraine Richter; sisters, Cheryl (Kurtis) McCartney, Melanie Bockstael, Merilee Hicks; and several nieces and nephews. Lynn was predeceased by her father Norman Richter; and sister Heather Richter.

After growing up in Winnipeg, and getting married, Lynn and Dennis relocated to Ashern to raise their family and become the proud owners of the Ashern Bake Shoppe.

Known to many, the bakery held a special place in Lynn’s heart. She enjoyed connecting with people in the area along with the many visitors that stopped as part of their travels along Highway 6. Whether it was teaching her girls to decorate cakes, preparing for the holidays, hosting huge holiday family dinners or having friends over for an afternoon coffee, Lynn loved sharing the bakery with those closest to her. She also treasured having the kids grow up around the bakery, with Michelle often leading the early morning bakes, Kirsten working the till and curly-haired little Elliot supervising the local morning coffee crew.

Lynn’s family was always first in heart and seeing her kids enjoy life in a small town brought her joy. As a family they took part in many outdoor seasonal activities and made fond memories with extended family at the Lake Manitoba Narrows cottage.

In 1997, Lynn and the kids relocated to Winnipeg where she re-connected with family and friends. She loved spending time watching Elliot play baseball and was proud to support her girls as they began their careers.

After retiring from MTS in 2015, Lynn moved to Calgary to be closer to her three beautiful grandchildren. Some of her favourite pastimes were watching her sweet Everly swim and dance and cheering for her favourite hockey players, Logan and Noah, at the rink. Lynn also spent precious time with her three sisters in Calgary and her parents, Norman and Lorraine.

Though Elliot remained in Winnipeg, he was never far from her heart and she supported him from afar. Their shared love of Friendly Manitoba made her visits to Winnipeg extra special as they spent time at Rainbow Stage, Assiniboine Park, Sargent Sundae, and going to Winnipeg Jets games.

Lynn’s wish was to return to Winnipeg and she was able to spend her last months with Elliot enjoying a beautiful Manitoba summer with visits from Michelle, Kirsten and their families.

Lynn’s immense love for her family lives on through the memories everyone will hold in their hearts forever. Logan, Everly and Noah, will always know that “Nannie loves them to the moon and back”.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation and thanks to the doctors and staff of the Riverview Medical Centre in Winnipeg for their kindness and gentle care. In addition, they want to thank Dr. Pamela Chu and the team at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary.

A very special thank you is also extended to Donna, Heather and the family members that helped care for Lynn during the last months of her difficult journey. Her family will always be grateful for their love, kindness and support.

Lynn’s family will be celebrating her life at a private gathering in Calgary.

It is with great sorrow and heaviness of heart that I learned of your passing. I am deeply comforted reading that you have given your life to Christ. A Christian never truly dies. In the words of the holy scriptures, “Now we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you will not grieve as also the rest, who have no hope” (1 Thess. 4:13). We know it is a passing on to glory. You are now in a better place and condition. We look forward to the day we shall meet again.

Lynn, you raised successful children and grandchildren and lived a fulfilled life. You fought to the very end. It is now time to rest. Rest in the bosom of the Lord. Your memory lingers on in our hearts.

To Lynn's family I am so very sorry to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you mourn this terrible loss. Lynn was a beautiful, caring, friendly soul who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone! I worked with Lynn at MTS for a number of years and it was so nice to spend time with her. She went through some pretty tough times but she was a fighter! She loved her family and would talk about them often. Lynn was a beautiful lady inside and out and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her! 💖🤗🙏🏻 Take care!

I worked at MTS Erin street location with Lynn for a number of years and always had a nice time just chatting. Once she retired we kept in touch with a couple of phone calls every year and she always had something to laugh about. I’m glad she left MTS and had that time to spend enjoying her family and friends. She deserved that time for all she has been through. She was a very kind hearted person and I will remember her. My most sincere condolences to her family.

My condolences to Lynn's kids, Elliot, Kirsten and Michelle, who I had the pleasure of meeting when Lynn worked at MTS in our admin team. And also to Lynn's Mom and sisters who she spoke of often. Such a beautiful photo of her as well ~ captures her warmth in her eyes. Lynn possesses a beautiful soul and sense of humour which I was privleged to experience the benefit of first hand. She certainly gave it all the good fight and was not a quitter. Even after she retired I was able to meet her at the Timmy's here in Winnipeg at Corydon and Stafford when she visited her friends and Elliot and she had remarkable resilience and we could have a few chuckles about our shared history at the Erin Street office. While I'm not in the picture attached to this comment as I took it, her coworkers are and they will also have fond memories of Lynn. She will be missed and will live on in our hearts.

My beautiful sister was so much more than a sister, she was like a second mom to me. She cared for me, believed in me, and loved me unconditionally. I will miss her laughter, her voice, and the comfort of knowing she was always there. Her love will live in my heart forever and I will wait for the time to be with her again. I'm so grateful for the time I spent with her in the good and the rough times of her battle with cancer those memories I will always cherish. She taught me to love the outdoors, we had so many belly laughs together... love you my dear sister Lynn now and forever in my heart. ♥️

I first met Lynn when my husband was pastoring the Ashern Gospel Chapel. I remember the day when she accepted Christ as her Savior. Later both she & her mom were baptized in the lake. We had kept in touch over the years & I'm thankful for that & the fact that we will meet again in eternity.

My condolences go out to all the family.
