Jenny Gilewicz
JENNY GILEWICZ
April 11, 1963 – October 16, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Jenny Gilewicz, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 at the age of 61.
Jenny was predeceased by her father, James Raw. She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Adeline Raw; her siblings, Randy Raw, Heather Hamberg (Alphonse), and Alison Raw; her children, Dominic Gilewicz (Brett), April Ali (Michael), Edgar, Lyle, and Ronny; her cherished grandchildren, Bentley, Treyton, Adeline, Emilia, Archer, and Olive; along with her niece, Kathryn; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
For anyone that was fortunate enough to have known Jenny, you know that she was the most kind, gentle, supportive and loving person that you will ever meet. She loved her family dearly and was always offering to help in anyway she could. Jenny depicted the definition of generosity and selflessness, always giving and putting others before herself. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, taking in and caring for many foster children over a span of nearly 30 consecutive years in the later part of her adult life. She played a major role in each of her grandchildren’s lives, attending many dance recitals, hockey games, school concerts, birthday parties and being the primary baby sitter whenever she was needed.
Jenny found comfort and community with her church, attending St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, The Meeting Place, Tabernacle Baptist Church and most recently, Bethel Community Church. Her small group, Alabaster Jar, was an important part of her life where she met many important people, including Anita and Steven Ward who she loved and treasured deeply.
Jenny’s favourite things included being with her family, crocheting, sitting in a warm sun beam, watching true crime shows, reading and having a nice hot cup of tea. She will be forever remembered for her gentleness, faith, support, love and nurture that she gave to all.
Jenny’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

She was an amazing lady, I am proud to call her aunt. She made a big impression on me in my life as both a support and best friend to my mom as well as an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. She babysat me as a child and my son as he grew up as well. I learned many things from her, including how to have patience and compassion when caring for others. She was both strong and gentle. I admired her ability to see the good in people and to bring out the best in those around her.
I will miss you xx 😘 and your check ins , 🥰 may you rest in happiness and peace.
