BARBARA LYNNE GINTER-BOYCE

(née AITKEN)

January 6, 1966 - December 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of, Barbara (Barb) Ginter-Boyce, on December 16, 2025 at the age of 59 years.

She is survived by her children, Mackenzie (Natahlye), and Brielle Bembridge (Nick), grandchildren, Victor and Veronica, brother, Jim Aitken, sister, Sandra Gilbert (Jean), step-father Ken McKenzie, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ross Aitken and Carol McKenzie.

Barb was a loving soul who dedicated her life to serving and helping people as a nurse, mother, sister and friend. She loved her children with a fierce, and protective mama bear heart.

She loved a good joke and had the gift of making people laugh. She was a proud and loyal Blue Bomber fan. And she was an excellent cook, constantly on the hunt for new recipes.

Throughout her lifetime, she lived in several different rural areas of Manitoba. She loved the beauty of the lake and trees at their last family home in Granit Hills, outside Lac du Bonnet.

Barb enjoyed keeping fit and participated in many of the boot camps and exercise classes offered through the hospitals where she worked. Swimming was one of her favorite things to do. In her youth, she loved to dance. The song “Dance”, by Queen City Kids was one of her favorites.

She was an animal lover and always had at least one pet. Dog or cat, she loved them all the same. And for a time, while they lived outside New Bothwell she fulfilled a life-long dream of owning a horse.

After graduating in 1988 from the Misericordia General Hospital School of Nursing, as an RN, Barb worked several years at the Misericordia Hospital. Later, while working nights and raising two children she graduated with her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Manitoba.

Her working career also later included positions as a Patient Care Manager for Post-Anesthesia Care, and Day Surgery at the Misericordia Health Centre and as a Unit Manager at the St. Boniface Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Barb’s home town of Cartwright, MB.

Sending our condolences to the family. We will miss seeing you walking your dog, coming for coffee with the coffee group, laughing and joking around, sitting on your deck having lots of laughs. You were loved by everyone that became friends with you. You will be dearly missed, you are in a good place now. Now you can heal your broken heart. May you rest in peace.

Barb was our babysitter for our 3 oldest boys, which seems like years ago. We could always depend on her keeping them safe. I was lucky to run into her in Cartwright not that long ago our sincere sympathy goes out to all her family.

My deepest condolences to family and friends. I went to Misericordia nursing school with Barb. Barb, Jackie and I quickly established the greatest of friendships. We were the three Musketeers . Barb was a kind and compassionate person and a lot of fun. She was an excellent nurse and a good friend. She was my bridesmaid at my wedding. We stayed in touch sporadically over the years. Oh how I wish I would have had one more chance to visit with her.

I worked with Barb at Misericordia ICU and she became one of my favorite people. The stories that she told were so hilarious, I have repeated them myself. "open your eyes Mable!" ( inside joke) She was a gentle and lovely woman, kind and caring. She was also a great nurse, smart and compassionate. I ran into her at important points in my life and she impacted my life positively every time. My deepest condolences to her family.
