TERRY RICHARD JAMES GODARD

January 2, 1950 - July 14, 2023

With profound sadness I share with you the unexpected passing of Terry, my husband and soulmate of 43 years.

Terry is survived by his wife Beverly, brothers William and Gary, extended family, and fur baby Winston.  Terry is also survived by daughter Julie (Kaylin, Dustin), whom he had the joy of meeting and connecting with later in life.

Terry was an honourable man, he enjoyed the simpler things in life, and valued family, friends, and his animals over material possessions.   His happy place was at the cottage in Grand Marais.

I send a heartfelt thank you to Bill and Gary, my sister and brother-in-law Barb and Garry Sheldon, my nephew Derrick Sheldon, and dear friends Mike Petrychko and Brian James who arrived so quickly to offer comfort and support, and to say goodbye to Terry.

Thank you to the firefighter first responders and paramedics for your valiant efforts trying to keep Terry with us,  and Michelle from the Medical Examiner’s office, for your compassion and dignified treatment of Terry on his final journey.

Donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.

Terry, you will be loved and missed forever.

sorry terry. couldn't get back to you as my internet works when it feels like it. I live in the bush. Still remember when you were here. I remember you sitting on my deck and in the chair. Best memories.

I lived at 54 Berrydale and in the summer Terry was always going down the street on his bike. We were kids. He was 2 years older. A little shy. Special when he would stop and chat sometimes. All part of the Berrydale crew. R.I.P. Terry ❤

Condolences from Marg and I  to Bev, Bill and Gary on Terry's passing. It really was a celebration of his life  seeing so many of Terry's old friends after so many years. Terry was someone special and anyone whoever spent anytime with him knew it .Terry seemed to know the importance of living each day to the fullest, so often giving of himself to others without a second thought for himself. Terry will be missed

My sincerest condolences to Terry's family- Bev, Gary and Bill. I had the fortune to live across the street to the Godards on Berrydale Ave. for 20 years.  The Godard family were always kind and welcoming to me. I remember walking to St Georges  School with Terry as the shortcut was through his yard. It was a great community to go up in with great neighbours. It was a time that I cherish.  Rest in peace Terry. Sincerely, Linda Puttaert ( nee James)

Sincere condolences to Bev, Gary and Bill.  Terry was great guy who will forever be remembered and missed.  I do believe that no-one is gone as long as they are remembered.   I will certainly remember his always welcoming greeting when we were able to visit, his optimistic outlook and joy of living - of course you can, go for it he would say.  And always willing to help anyone out  A special shout out for the many times Terry and Gary helped out my father-in-law when we weren't around.  Many years ago, he asked me to drive that beat-up blue delivery truck for him, half a turn of play in the steering wheel, instructions on how to double-clutch to downshift, a few minutes to "get ready" and go, you'll be fine.  Always fun to be around.   Godspeed, my friend.  Rest well until we meet again.  ❤

Dear Bev, Gary & Bill Godard  My deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband and brother, I’ll always remember Terry as a dear friend, memories go back to the seventies when I worked for him and we even water skied on the red river together. Just recently on my morning walk I would see Terry and Winston sail through Grand Beach park taking him for a morning dip in the lagoon. It was nice to see those two so happy.  A life well lived and loved by many! Rest in Peace  Terry  James Madden

Dear Terry; My lifelong friend and big brother to me. Our paths and families will be fore ever linked.  Terry was the most loyal of friends. Always willing to help if you asked. Terry always had a smile on his face and a big laugh from the heart when we met. The Godard family have always been a big part of my life. I have known all them since I was a toddler. Thanks to all of your family Terry. With a heavy heart I say goodbye big brother. Until we meet again our dear friend. We love Brian and the whole James family. ❤

Spent a lot of time looking over a mug of Joe at that mug of Terry's at the 'Bird on St. Mary's. Good conversation and a great laugh.
