SCOTT WILLIAM GODFREY

November 2, 1981 – August 27, 2020

With heavy hearts, we announce that Scott Godfrey passed away on August 27, 2020 at the age of 38 years.

Scott is survived by his children Alyssa and Kayla; parents David and Janice; sister Tyla (Mario); nieces Madison and Rylan Ronzone; special friend Gigi; many aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Donald and Margaret Godfrey and Walter and Irene Middlestead, and uncles Alvin Kitchur and uncle Bill Godfrey.

As a young boy Scott enjoyed spending time at Grandpa and Grandma’s farm, enjoyed trying to catch the farm cats, riding the trike and fishing and exploring the caves at Steep Rock. He also enjoyed spending time at Uncle Alvin and Auntie Lorraine’s farm.  He worked on the hay fields in the summer, enjoyed working with the cattle and in general just having fun that a city boy usually didn’t get to have. Many summers were spent as a family camping at various campgrounds. His family enjoys many fond memories of playing pass the ace in the trailer. Scott loved to fish and many miles were made by him walking up and down the shores looking for lost lures and weights. Scott enjoyed family events and spending time with family. As life moved on he graduated from high school and moved to Calgary for a short time. One of his favorite places to be was fishing of the many docks in the Whiteshell. Scott also loved summers at the cottage and hiking.

Scott’s greatest treasures in life were his daughters Alyssa and Kayla. They write, “Dad‘s favorite pastime was fishing, crafts and working with his hands. Dad was very kind and caring. He loved spending time with us (making us laugh, taking goofy selfies.) He taught us many things and we really appreciate that. He liked going bike riding, and taking Chance and Rocky for walks. Dad took us for many adventures. He liked turtles as well.

My dad had his struggles in life and hard times, but he always managed to make us happy, sometimes we didn’t realize that he was doing everything he could for us but everything he did for us is so greatly appreciated and I thank him for that, my father was a good man, he was caring, smart, strong, brightened up a room, had a smile that would bring you happiness, had a laugh that would give you joy, his  ocean blue eyes would make you feel calm and at peace, he’d always be there for you even when he’s going though something himself, he gave me all I could ask for in a father, he’s a  loyal best friend to you and will forever be in my heart, I love him very much and always will have him in my heart, I thank him for  being my dad, my best friend, a person to go to, someone to open up with, my father believed in me and gave me so much hope in life, he made many sacrifices  for us and some came hard while some came easy and for that I greatly appreciate, he truly did save me in hard times and taught me how to overcome hard things in life and to never give up on anything no matter how small or big it is, he taught me to never give on life, trying, having hope or myself, he gave me the best childhood he possibly could up until 16 years old and will still watch over me in heaven and guide me though the good and hard times in life, he made me the good person I am today, Thank you dad, I love you very much.”

Memories from Madison and Rylan Uncle Scott also played in the park with us and took us for slurpee’s and shoulder rides and came up with some crazy fun ideas and new crafts for us to make.

Scott was loved by many people for his unique smile and blue eyes he never hesitated to give a helping hand if he could. He had a special love for the animals in his life Chance, Rocky and Maddie who will be happy to play again.

Scott we love you very much.

Love Dad, Mom, Alyssa, Kayla, Tyla, Mario, Madison and Rylan.

Dear Godfreys, My deepest deepest deepest condolences. I am so heartbroken. I love you all SO much and I'm here to help with anything you need. Scott was one of my dearest and definitely longest friend. My fondest memories with him would be shopping for turtles together, helping him with his grade 12 adult education homework, he would drive me to work at Winner's and he would do donuts in the Unicity parking lot in the snow haha, and of course when we went to Isbister Park and went tabaggoning on the hills there. Memories of him are definitely his laugh his smile and his eyes. He was a wonderful dad and my heart is definitely with Alyssa and Kayla. I love you all SO much. Scott has taught me in a second that life can end, its not cliché to say, he has definitely taught me 1. To always talk to people that I don't talk to often,  2. To literally treasure EVERY moment with my children, 3. Live every day like it's your last, I will definitely be here to be a better neighbor to you all, and Tyla we've got to have more play dates, Love you tonnnnnnsssss, Angela Stapleton ❤ ❤

My condolences to his friends and family.  I have fond memories of Scott from high school at sturgeon. Football games, to hanging out in the halls and graduation night. He was a friend when someone needed him and a goofball when he wanted to be.  We may have drifted apart since high school, and gone our separate ways but the friendship we had back then will never be forgotten.  I wish you to Rest In Peace and know you watch over your girls Scott. ❤ Dori Fox (Nordsletten)
