Betty Goodall
ELIZABETH MARY GOODALL
"BETTY" (née PELHAM)
January 26, 1951 – October 22, 2024
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Betty on October 22, 2024 at her home. Betty and her twin sister, Pat were born January 26, 1951 in Halifax, NS. She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years Chuck; twin daughters, Angela (David) and Adele (Shawn); as well as her granddaughter Meghan (Devon); sisters, Pat and Jennifer (Jack); brother-in-law Roy; sister-in-law Bonnie (Leo); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course her fur baby “Emma”, all of whom were very special to her.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Aubrey and Marguerite; her siblings: Andrew, Joseph, Paul, Robert, and Cynthia; as well as her mother and father-in-law; sister-in-law Jeannette; and brother-in-law Howard; and Reg.
Betty grew up in Herring Cove, a small fishing village outside Halifax. She enjoyed a carefree childhood, spending time with siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles as they were a tight-knit family.
In her early teens, the family moved to Fort Churchill, MB. It was in Churchill that Betty met Chuck, they later married, and she gave birth to twin daughters.
Betty worked full-time outside her home and despite being a busy wife and mother, she managed to find time to give to her community. She taught catechism, was a beloved Brownie leader, and spent many years as an active member of her parish council.
In 1987, the family moved to Winnipeg. Betty took pride in watching her girls grow up, graduate, and begin to build their lives and families. Betty relished being able to spend more time with her sisters and their families in Winnipeg, often entertaining the entire family.
Betty was a fantastic baker, cook, homemaker, auntie, sister, loving Grandma, and friend. She had a long-standing reputation for sending you home with a Tupperware container of leftovers or homemade treats. “Only the best for my family,” she often chimed.
Never forgetting her roots, Betty enjoyed traveling back home to Nova Scotia. In later years her little getaway bus trips to the casino were always a highlight.
Betty will long be remembered for her wit, humor, hospitality, and uncanny ability to tell it like it was.
May you rest in peace Betty. We love you.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
-MATTHEW 11:28
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at First Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, MB. A private interment will occur at a later date.

Today I was both shocked and saddened to learn that Betty passed away. My heart goes out to Chuck, Angela and Adelle, Pat, Jennifer and family. She was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed many good times with her when we were young in Fort Churchill. I haven't seen her for a few years but I will still miss her. What a beautiful video and pictures.!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Betty's passing. I have such fond memories of working with Betty many years ago. Whenever I hear the song "The Lion sleeps tonight". I am reminded of Betty and can still hear her singing, as we laughed and carried on with our work day. She was such a fine lady. To all Betty's family and friends, my deepest and most sincere condolences for your loss. May Betty watch over all her family and keep them safe for all eternity.

My sincere condolences to Chuck, Adele, Angela and sisters Pat and Jennifer and families. As a first cousin I have many memories of Betty while we were both younger and living in Herring Cove. Also, a visit home by Betty and Chuck many years back and another visit by all the sisters. Her beautiful smile will remain in my heart. May your happier memories bring comfort in the healing journey ahead. Cousin Mary

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Betty. It has been many years since we saw each other. As we age and have our own families and grand children we tend to lose contact with our cousins and friends. Thru no one's fault that seems to be the way life goes
May she rest in peace !
