GREGORY “GREG” WILLIAM GOODISON

December 7, 1964 – February 7, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gregory “Greg” William Goodison on February 7, 2025.

Predeceased by his parents, James (2008) and Esme (2012); Greg leaves behind his partner Shannon; his daughter Carissa; his stepchildren, Chea, Mark, and Lyle; and his step-grandson Benny. Greg will also be deeply missed by his sister Charlotte; brother Rob; stepsisters, Donna and Loraine; and close friend Moe.

Born in York, Ontario, Greg spent most of his childhood years in Kitchener, Waterloo, before moving to Winnipeg in his teenage years.

A true outdoorsman, Greg found his greatest joy near the water, where he could cast a line and enjoy fresh fish or seafood by the shoreline. His passion for fishing led him to work for many years as a fishing guide in Minaki, where he built lasting friendships and spent countless evenings on the water in pursuit of the perfect catch.

In addition to his love for the outdoors, Greg was a skilled carpenter. After returning to Winnipeg to be closer to his daughter, he put his craftsmanship to work, establishing his own house building business. In his 30s, Greg would escape the harsh Canadian winters by travelling to Florida, where he could continue fishing or visit his parents in Los Cabos.

Greg met his partner, Shannon, in 2008, and together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. They enjoyed spending time at their trailer near Gimli, watching the Winnipeg Jets games with family, and renovating their home. Throughout Greg's health challenges in later years, Shannon remained his unwavering source of support and care.

Greg had a generous spirit and a deep love for his family and friends. He was known for his kindness, encouragement, and willingness to lend a helping hand. No matter the challenges he faced, he embraced life with a light heart, always ready with a joke to lift the mood and bring laughter to those around him. His warmth, quick wit, and ability to find joy in every moment will be deeply missed—and, of course, so will his famous French Onion Soup.

As per Greg's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Canadian Lung Association in Greg's memory.

From your family,

We love and miss you,

Greg (Dad).

You will forever be with us.

Greg’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
