Phil Graff

PHILIP HENRY GRAFF
May 14, 1940 - October 24, 2025
Phil passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his home in Winnipeg, MB. He will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Cindy (Cal) and Rena; his son, Garth; and his ten grandchildren: Amber, Michelle, James, Derek, Leanne, Philip, Stephanie, Christine, Marie, and Ashley. Phil also leaves behind fifteen great-grandchildren and many friends he made across the country while working for various moving and trucking companies.
Phil was born in Grayson, Saskatchewan, to his mother, Augustine (née Haberstock), and father, Jacob Graff. Raised on a farm, he left the family homestead in his teens to begin a new chapter in Regina. As a young adult, he began working for Allied Moving and continued his career as a trucker with various moving and trucking companies until his retirement in 2012 at the age of 72.
He lived in Vancouver for over 30 years before relocating to Winnipeg in 2000 to be closer to his family. Phil remained in touch with many of his former co-workers and is remembered by them as a hard worker, a class act, a great friend, and an old cocker.
Phil was a passionate sports fan. He followed many teams over the years, but none captured his loyalty quite like the Las Vegas Raiders and the Baltimore Orioles. Sundays were sacred in Phil’s home, reserved for NFL football. A testament to his passion for sports and his ability to find joy in life’s quiet rhythms.
Phil cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was grabbing a cup of coffee, going out for lunch, or simply chatting on the phone, he deeply valued those moments of connection. He was always well-informed about politics and current events and was never hesitant to share his views, often sparking lively conversations that reflected his sharp mind and spirited personality.
Phil held a very special place in his heart for his youngest great-grandchildren: Frédéric, Élodie, and Adrian. His phone was filled with pictures of them, and he never missed an opportunity to proudly share their photos with his friends or with strangers at the grocery store while waiting in line. Phil’s smile was it’s brightest when he visited with his great-grandchildren. He always arrived with candies or Timbits in hand and quickly joined them on the floor, playing with toys and puzzles, fully engaged in their world. These simple moments brought him immense joy. His granddaughters, Christine and Marie, and their little ones will forever carry those special memories in their hearts.
Phil will be remembered for his engaging conversations, unwavering loyalty, and sharp sense of humor. He had a remarkable way of staying connected, always checking in on those he cared about. His weekly phone calls, that could span on any topic, along with his warmth, wit, and presence, will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family has chosen to hold an intimate goodbye ceremony in honor of Phil. To celebrate his memory, we invite you to read a Western novel, watch a sports game, or enjoy some Chinese food, just as Phil often did. May we all continue to find comfort in life’s simple joys just as he did.
