LISA GREEN

Our beloved Lisa passed away peacefully and comfortably Friday afternoon, Nov. 19th after a long illness, with her loving husband Darrell at her side holding her hand. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Darrell; mother Hilda; aunt Cathy; sister Tara (Dan); niece Jordan, whom she adored; as well as uncles and cousins, with a special acknowledgement to cousin Darryl, for his daily messages of prayerful support. She will also be sadly missed by her husband's brother Colin and his family.

Lisa was fortunate to grow up in a loving family, treated to many vacations, summers at the lake, and countless fun experiences. She cultivated a large circle of friends, who are also grieving her loss.

Lisa faced her illness with bravery and strength, never once complaining or feeling sorry for herself. She took hope in knowing she would one day be reborn in heaven. Her father Al passed before her and we take comfort that he was there to meet her.

After graduating from the University of Manitoba, Lisa joined the Public Service of Canada. Lisa spent the majority of her 34-year career with Correctional Service of Canada. Lisa loved her work and truly enjoyed connecting with and helping people try and get their lives back on track.

Lisa's children were her pet puppies, they meant the world to her, and she spoiled them with love, affection and attention. She was predeceased by Piper and Quintana. Leaving Quetzal to be cared for by our favorite aunt Cathy. Lisa was truly heartbroken when we suddenly lost Quintana this past April.

Lisa was extremely generous with a heart of gold and an optimistic outlook on life, always looking for the positive. Unselfish to a fault Lisa always put herself last and her friends, family and husband first. Always willing to offer support and encouragement to those she loved.

Lisa and Darrell enjoyed annual winter vacations to Mexico and summers on the beaches in Gimli and Matlock and eating in their favourite restaurants. They loved attending concerts, movies and Blue Bomber games together. Lisa was a 28-year Blue Bomber season ticket holder.

Being creative was an important part of Lisa’s life, and she left us with many beautiful cards, paintings, and crocheted gifts. Tara and Jordan will cherish the memories of our girls’ crafting afternoons that we enjoyed so much. Lisa wanted to expose Jordan to arts and culture, and we loved going with her to movies, plays, and other events.

Lisa’s loss leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled. But the impact she had on the people she was close to will be a part of us forever. We will carry her memory with gratitude and love. Thank you, Lisa, for being part of our lives.

The family also wishes to thank the staff at Cancer Care Manitoba, Health Sciences Center GD04, and St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care for their care and support.

Lisa would be grateful for donations in any amount to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her name.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

It's Christmas Eve, Lisa Bernadette, and I am devastated. Darrell told me today of your passing. You still are and were my most beautiful friend. Since you  didn't get to Newfoundland with me, I will plant a flower garden there just for you - lots of pink flowers. For your family and all your devoted friends, be assured - Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted. All my love, Catherine

Merry Christmas Lisa! You and our puppies are all home for Christmas.  Literally and figuratively!  You are forever surrounded by angels!  Christmas will never be the same without you.  Life hasn’t been or never will be the same without you.  Thanks to the birth we celebrate at Christmas, I take hope in knowing that someday I will be with you again in heaven! She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.  Mathew 1:21 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  1 John 5:11 Love forever Darrell xo P.S. To all of Lisa’s friends, coworkers, and acquaintances who have offered their condolences and made donations in her memory I sincerely thank you all!  I apologize that I haven’t personally contacted and thanked you all individually.   I know Lisa is thankful and smiling down on us all, wishing everyone only the best!

Sorry to hear about your loss Darrell, Tara, Dan, and Jordan. My prayers are with you and your family. I have worked along side Lisa in the programs department for many years in Winnipeg. We supported each other through many challenging times. On a positive note, I remember a flight to a reserve I took with her and another staff member in a small plane. We had a lot of fun, especially with the school bus taxi and wondering if we were going to get back in time for our flight home. I can recall her admiring the summer smell of sweetgrass. Lisa will be missed. Conrad

I was thankful to have known Lisa and reconnect with her on Facebook once I finally joined the social media world just over a year ago. In the occupation/environment we worked in there are few and far between people who are consistently kind and giving, helpful and smiling. She was definitely one of those rare individuals and will be missed dearly. Condolences to the family and close friends and loved ones.

Lisa Green was my manager for a number of years. Very supportive and encouraging.  She believed in me before I believed in myself.  Condolences to the family, I know how much she valued and loved her family above all.

Such a beautiful tribute. I was lucky to have Lisa as a friend and co-worker and personally experienced her generosity and kindness. Lisa introduced me to the Chinese Crested hypoallergenic dog breed, so I was also able to have a pet puppy. So many laughs and good memories.  She will be missed! Love and condolences to her family.

I extend my most heartfelt condolences to Darrell, Tara, Dan, Jordan and all those who loved Lisa. I worked for a time with Lisa in the Programs Department when I first started with Corrections.  She was kind hearted and generous with her time, always willing to listen and share her knowledge and experience with me.  She was a lovely person. May you find strength and comfort in each other as you grieve.

Darrell, Tara and Dan, my sincere condolences on Lisa's passing. When I first returned to the "program world" after several years away, I floated my first program report by Lisa as I knew her to be a seasoned CPO. Her feedback was very reaffirming and I realized we had many similarities in the way we approached programming interventions. Later, when I worked with her at Winnipeg Parole, Lisa and I had many good conversations and also shared our love of jewelry - she gave me some valuable tips on where to get the good stuff, lol. She was also the one who stopped in to see if I was okay one day when I had my door closed, and probably the only person to understand and offer sympathy when she learned I was upset about a raccoon in our attic that had to be euthanized. I think that speaks to her humanity. I know you will all miss her a great deal but will keep her alive in your hearts; she was a good person. ❤

Our thoughts and prayers to Lisa’s family. I will always remember how Lisa was my manager in 2014 when I lost my dad and dog within a short time frame. I couldn’t ask for a more kind or compassionate person in which  Lisa was. She truly had that quality about her that made her a loving person towards others in times of need. Our hearts go out to others who are also grieving at this time.

Darrell, Tara and Dan, I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  Lisa was one of the first people I met when I started (as CX she was working as STO I believe) and I was so grateful for her patience and kindness with me.  My thoughts are with you at this sad time xoxo

Lisa was a long hauler with Corrections, and kept sight of the goals of helping others, with respect and kindness and good humour. She had a lovely laugh and smile. I'm so sorry she suffered as she did; may she rest in peace now. My sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones.
