ALLEN GRIFFIN

July 12, 1955 – November 25, 2024

Allen Griffin, 69, of Woodmore, Manitoba passed away on November 25, 2024. Born on July 12, 1955.

Allen was a loving father to Amy (Sean); and grandfather to Aliyah and Zachary. Allen is also survived by his long-time friend Sheryle; niece Kim (Scott); and numerous cousins especially Ken!

Allen was predeceased by his brother Ronald; father Harry; and mother Irene.

Allen’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed farming and trucking, often spending his weekends cultivating, picking rocks or fixing a tractor. His love for farming was something he shared with his family and friends, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

I want to extend my condolences to all of Allen's family. We grew up as neighbours ,cousins and friends. Our families were close and we spent lots of time together. In our teenage years we spent endless weekends hanging out at socials or just with all our friends! Auntie Irene always welcomed us at their home for after social parties! Oh the fun we had!

As the years went by we saw less of each other but our close proximity meant we would run into each other now and again and Merv loved to talk so we would reconnect.

I am sad to hear of his passing, had saw him at a cousins funeral recently so am glad for that.

Rest in Peace my cousin and friend, May the crops always be bountiful in heaven and the cattle fat!

My deepest condolences to the family, I was very saddened to hear of Al's passing.

I worked with Al for many years, and we definetly didn't always see eye to eye but "fact of the matter" and the "long and the short of it" is you were always there for us, and you sure will be missed. Rest Easy Al.

Deepest condolences to Amy and family. It was a true pleasure and a privilege to have known and to have worked with Merv over the last 20 plus years both trucking and on the farm. A man with too many qualities to list but here's a few things I will remember him for... He always spoke highly of his family and friends. He had an amazing work ethic and always got the job done. He was always willing to help anyone with anything, especially those close to him, but never asked for anything in return. He had the ability to make anyone laugh at will with his quick witted and perfectly timed remarks. We will miss you deeply my friend. Farewell until we cross paths again.

Dear Amy and family. I am so very sorry to hear of Allen's passing and send each of you my deepest sympathies. I will treasure my childhood memories of all the cousins and wonderful times we spent at the farm in Woodmore. Allen was always kind and caring and there was never any doubt of his great love of farming and the family farm. Know that each of you are in my thoughts at this very sad time.

It is with sadness that I learned of the passing of Allen Griffin aka Merv. I've known Merv since grade school in Woodmore. He liked to talk in school and he liked to talk in his latter years. We would talk about anything and laugh at everything! I will always have fond memories of us at socials in Woodmore, Ridgeville and other areas with the party continuing at his place. If the walls could talk! Not only was Merv a good friend, he was a good person. To neighbors , family and friends. Our friendship was a blessing.

Rest easy my friend and may you find eternal rest. You will be deeply missed.

My deepest sympathy to Amy and her family and to Sheryle.

My deepest condolences Amy, Sean, Aliyah, Sean, Sheryle, Kim, Scott and family.

I've known Merv since I was 15 and we reconnected about 4 years ago when I decided to develop my property in the area. I had no idea what I was doing.

After being given wrong advice several times, Merv decided to have a talk with me. He said going forward, I could only ask him for advice and I could only do what he suggested. He said he was always right. He was! Now what Merv?

Merv and I spent a lot of time together. Merv had a great sense of humour along with the best hearty laugh. He was full of quick wit and charm. We laughed often and always had a good time.

Merv so loved his family, speaking often of them.

Merv was a kind and generous soul. Always offering to help and I always had to fight to have my turn to pay for a meal or to do something to help him out.

Some of our best times were going out on crop tours. Taking a couple hours to drive the backroads from his place to the Ridgeville Club or Letellier Hotel. Many laughs and gossip along the way. Once there, we always ordered a couple cheeseburgers well done and a poutine to share. Merv would have a rye & coke press and even though I ordered a beer, he would insist I have a few sips of his drink.

On our final visit, he said to have a double rye & coke for him and I did but one shot at a time. I will miss you my dear dear friend. One day there will be a road meeting and we will go on another crop tour. Rest in peace Allen.
